Oops don't think that's it.

This works but only from the server.

huh? 7.6.0 was probably one of the most problem-ridden releases. 7.6.1
solved most of those problems and I found it reasonably stable. I moved
to 7.6.2 and since then all has been very stable, including my wifi
connected RADIOS.

p.s. One can always "go back" to prior software and prior firmware.
Just install the version you wanted, connect to players to the SbS once
running and the firmware will be rolled back. Very simple.

Re: [SlimDevices: Radio] 7.6.1 r9482 has messed up my SB Radio

2011-10-26 Thread knutb

I have to agree with Cliff and Paularios - the Radio has gone from being
an excellent unit to a rather annoying one over the course of the past
year. I have three SqueezeDevices, and curiously, only the one obtained
since Logitech moved onto the scene is by now a clunker - the Boom and
the SB3 are rock solid. So I may not be able to see anyone's Facebook
news feed on either of them, but my Radio is not a steady or dependable
network player anymore and that's a real drag.

I've done my share of Googling my particular issues; the wifi/wlan
client is utterly stupid in terms of connecting/reconnecting e.g. after
having shut the wireless down during the night, but I figure that at
some point, the firmware team will find this out, too, and do something
about it. And to all the truly helpful participants in various forums: I
have tried your advice on wifi tweaks, to no avail. By now, I just won't
bother - there are some ten other wireless devices in the house that
never has problems connecting. The Radio at its' current state is a
serious disappointment and, at least for the time being, I have put my
enthusiastic recommendation of Logitech Squeezeboxes on hold.

Thanks, I had never used the server. I did find out the AAC wasn't
supported by my older boom. That's a bummer. Guess it had been awhile
since I tried to listen to that station. So I got the server up and
running and got the station to work.
It is not real stable though, and the name and song doesn't show up
correctly on the Boom. Cool that it works but way too much hassle just
to listen to certain stations. Glad I figured it out though.

Thanks to everyone for their help! :)
