Re: [SlimDevices: Radio] Small Package, Big Sound .. and awful alarm clock
aubuti wrote: Hmm, these latest posts raise a question about the UE Smart Radio that I don't think I've seen discussed so far. There is fairly widespread agreement that the SB Radio's design to require a server connection to trigger the alarm was a bad idea. Even the old SB Radio has enough smarts to do that on its own. Does the new UE Radio do any better on this score, ie, did they learn from their mistake on the SB Radio? Given the internet-centric approach of the UE Radio I would suspect not. And the obvious subsidiary question: if the main alarm fails, is the fallback alarm -still- Fa Fa Fa by Datarock? Don't know about 2nd question, but you can set and delete alarms on uesmartradio.com which I suspect answers the first. Re: [SlimDevices: Radio] Upgrade SB Radio to UE Radio
If I have understood correctly the new UE Radio has to be connected to the internet where a clould based server will effectively run it. So if you have no internet connection it will not play any music period - local or otherwise. Is this correct? I live in a semi-rural area and our internet service is pretty poor as we are miles from the exchange. Our service is often knocked out; sometimes for days at a time so I certainly won't be downgrading my SB Radio with the UE firmware. This is of course just a software limitation so if it causes a lot problems for a lot of users it might be changed in the future. erland's Profile: http://forums.slimdevices.com/member.php?userid=3124 View this thread: http://forums.slimdevices.com/showthread.php?t=96256 ___ Radio mailing list Radio@lists.slimdevices.com http://lists.slimdevices.com/mailman/listinfo/radio

Michael Personnaly, I think it is a marketing error not providing an upgrade path for oldier devices, at least for recent one like the Touch, since it will prevent legacy users to migrate to UE and eventually buy new UE devices to expand their multi-room coverage. If all the marketing arguments for UE you've mentioned would become true, I'd certainly be willing to upgrade my Touch to UE. Please consider this option! evdplancke's Profile: http://forums.slimdevices.com/member.php?userid=43147 View this thread: http://forums.slimdevices.com/showthread.php?t=96188 ___ Radio mailing list Radio@lists.slimdevices.com http://lists.slimdevices.com/mailman/listinfo/radio

Re: [SlimDevices: Radio] New Squeezebox Radio
About the New UE Radio ,...I use my SB radio every night charge the battery every day If The battery is built in ,..how do I change it when it reaches its cycle life ? 3rd party apps ,without these keeping the radio fresh with different options its a big loss I use some like ScannerBox http://www.scannerbox.us/ almost every day ,...really extends the function use of the product.. This still has potential to be really popular if they don't limit cripple it.. foehammer's Profile: http://forums.slimdevices.com/member.php?userid=42613 View this thread: http://forums.slimdevices.com/showthread.php?t=96188 ___ Radio mailing list Radio@lists.slimdevices.com http://lists.slimdevices.com/mailman/listinfo/radio
Re: [SlimDevices: Radio] New Squeezebox Radio
By all accounts the battery isn't built-in, it's seemingly just supplied with it pre-installed, unlike the Squeezebox Radio. paulster's Profile: http://forums.slimdevices.com/member.php?userid=23073 View this thread: http://forums.slimdevices.com/showthread.php?t=96188 ___ Radio mailing list Radio@lists.slimdevices.com http://lists.slimdevices.com/mailman/listinfo/radio
