[SlimDevices: Radio] UE Radio (upgraded) spontaneously reboots

2014-08-24 Thread castalla

My upgraded UE has started to spontaneously reboot overnight (while
streaming radio stations) - connected to msb.com. The other Radio
plays without interruption.

Any ideas?

[SlimDevices: Radio] Listening on hotel wifi... where you have to accept TsCs or passcode

2014-08-24 Thread Dean_Bayliss

I think I already know the answer to this, but I'd be interested in
others experience or ideas! I'm sure you have used internet services in
a hotel, the cloud, or similar where you have an open wifi connection,
but just need to accept the Ts&Cs or enter a password, so you can use
your iphone, pc or whatever.

This is all very easy with a browser, you arrive on a landing page,
enter some details and then it captures your MAC address and
authenticates it - then you are free to use. How on earth do you do
this with your radio

I guess you can take your own router, connect through that with a PC,
and then your radio can access your own router and appear as the
authenticated device as the router MAC will only be seen, or perhaps you
can modify your PCs wifi MAC address to be the same as the radio
(although with Windows 7 changing the MAC address on wifi to start 00
like a slim address brings another whole project with it) and swap as
soon as authenticated. In all these cases, you might as well just use
your smart phone or PC!

The hotel didn't intend for you not to be able to connect your radio, it
just doesn't seem possible at first sight. Is there a plugin that
exists to achieve this - scroll through the landing page as text to get
to the bit where you enter the details? Any ideas gratefully received
that don't include an additional suitcase! Thanks.

It has happened frequently over the last couple of weeks - approximately
at the same time between 5-7 am.

If you do not have access to a hard wired ethernet connection (wifi
only), you could also check out the Connectify application. This lets
you share a wifi connection with just one wifi card. There's a free and
paid version available. I would go for the paid as the free has
restrictions which can become frustrating.
