Re: [SlimDevices: Radio] UE Smart battery replacement?
The reason I (probably) sound a little muddled is because I don't actually own one yet. But I'm in the market for a Radio, one or the other, Squeezebox or UE. I'm thinking the UE sounds the better bet ... They're identical except for some wlan part iirc. Don't worry about sound quality being different. -- Michael ___ Radio mailing list Radio@lists.slimdevices.com http://lists.slimdevices.com/mailman/listinfo/radio
Re: [SlimDevices: Radio] UE Smart battery replacement?
The hardware is practically identical ( may be small generation differences ) , but UE came with battery included with the Squeezebox radio it was an option sold together with an optionsavtal ir remote . The UE thing was a rebranding excercise , with a simpler/different software aproach trying to use the newly acquired UE name too , to sell better . Most user here find the Squeezebox/LMS software more flexible and better in practice . If your concerned about soundquality get a squeezebox Touch and separate speakers ( or complete hifi system ). For a standalone solution the squeezebox Boom sounded way better than radio , but it's getting rather old . Most people coming to this nowadays build there own DIY players with raspi3 or some such , as squeezeboxes I was discontinued long ago . Re: [SlimDevices: Radio] UE Smart battery replacement?
Thanks everyone, that's clearer now. The reason I (probably) sound a little muddled is because I don't actually own one yet. But I'm in the market for a Radio, one or the other, Squeezebox or UE. I'm thinking the UE sounds the better bet ... and if I do get an inevitably secondhand UE, I wanted to be sure I can replace what might well be a knackered battery. But of course, now you have me wondering, with all the talk of "identical" and so on, if the UE really is the better bet. Part of my reason for leaning toward that one was the onboard battery. And I know I can switch it to LMS use. But ... any more thoughts on the choice? whitman's Profile: http://forums.slimdevices.com/member.php?userid=9053 View this thread: http://forums.slimdevices.com/showthread.php?t=106017 ___ Radio mailing list Radio@lists.slimdevices.com http://lists.slimdevices.com/mailman/listinfo/radio

Bpa, so does this same battery for the Squeezebox radio fit in the UE Smart Radio compartment, then? Yes, it's identical. -- Michael ___ Radio mailing list Radio@lists.slimdevices.com http://lists.slimdevices.com/mailman/listinfo/radio

Squeezebox Radio and UE radio are essentially same hardware just different firmware so AFAIK same battery fits both. Battery pack should look like a set of 10 batteries (2x5), shrinkwrapped with a short lead and a socket ( see DIY http://www.cuttingthebills.com/2011/03/diy-high-capacity-battery-pack-for.html ) bpa's Profile: http://forums.slimdevices.com/member.php?userid=1806 View this thread: http://forums.slimdevices.com/showthread.php?t=106017 ___ Radio mailing list Radio@lists.slimdevices.com http://lists.slimdevices.com/mailman/listinfo/radio
