[SlimDevices: Radio] Radio stops playing after about 15 minutes, then plays fine (logs included)

2020-10-26 Thread chaug

My daughters SB Radio keeps stopping about 15 minutes into the playlist.
Once we press play again after that first stop, it plays as it should
until it powers off automatically after an hour (power save setting).
It's really annoying and I can't figure out what is causing this
behaviour.

The SB Radio is known for its wifi connectivity issues so the first
thing I did was connect it to the ethernet and I was so sure that would
solve it. But it didn't. I looked at the logs but couldn't see anything.
I changed the log level for some of the logging categories (but there
are so many and I'm not sure exactly which ones to target. Besides, the
log settings behave erratically. Sometimes they are not saved and some
are displayed as saved but actuall log behyaviour does not seem to
correspond to that. But I may be wrong on that.) Anyway, today I was
finally able to capture the event on the log:

Code:

Could someone assist me in interpreting these? I can see that it
switched to pause but does it say why? (I can say with absolute
certainty that no button was pressed by a human, neither physically or
virtually).

sorry, that's really not a multimedia-friendly environment then. you
might consider cell services such as 3g or 4g, routed through your
cellphone or a mobile gateway. other than that, I'm out of ideas,
sorry...

With huge apologies, as I didn't spot this prompt reply - that's helped
me understand - thank you!

I now realise that there is no link between favourites and presets. In
the absence of a presets editor, I'd been assuming that favourites drove
the buttons, but couldn't see how that worked.

Now I've got the presets editor, I can see how the two are separate, but
there is now an interface to expose them in LMS - which is great.

Presumably the settings are stored in the prefs file. And I'm now
wondering if they're not explicitly stored in there instantly, and so a
power loss to the Pi running LMS could lose them if they're only
cached?

Either way, I'm definitely now more in control and appreciate the
pointer.

WPA2 support exists for the PSK variant (password) but certainly not for
Enterprise. you would have to use a WiFi-to-Ethernet bridge capable of
WPA2-Enterprise, and connect the Radio to it via Ethernet. Even then the
outcome is not clear. if it's a company network, isn't there a guest
SSID that you could use and that is less protected?

[SlimDevices: Radio] WPA / WPA Enterprise support?

2020-10-26 Thread IvanDrago

Hello. Does this radio support WPA / WPA Enterprise network? I can't
connect to my work network. Is there an unoffical patch anywhere?

Re: [SlimDevices: Radio] Losing button presets and how do these actually work?

2020-10-26 Thread P Nelson

I understand that the presets are different depending on if you are
using logitech media server (LMS) or mysqueezebox.com as ther server. I
run LMS when I want to listening to my own music, but most of the time I
listen to a streaming stations using mysqueezebox.com. The issue I am
seeing is when I switch back to mysqueezebox.com, I lose its presets.

Can anyone help to resolve this?

thank you

Paul
