On mysqueezebox.com, I can set the snooze time and the alarm timeout
for alarms. I can also use a playlist (.m3u or .pls) as a favorite.
Hence, I can use a playlist as an alarm sound.

I cannot find a way to accomplish any of this when using the "Touch
Server." I cannot connect to my Squeezebox Touch using a web browser
either. So the missing features (above) are not a surprise.

Please correct me if any of this is wrong. I don't want to be the bad
guy spreading misinformation!

Re: [SlimDevices: Radio] alarm defaults to DISCO all the time

2011-10-01 Thread arnstein

Here is my experience with this problem. I hope that this info is
useful.

I bought a Squeezebox Radio in February of this year. I liked it so
much that I bought a Squeezebox Touch later. Everything was working
fine, until a few months ago.

I experienced the problem documented in this thread. The frequency of
this problem increased over a period of months. Presently, I experience
the "Disco" problem every day.

There was a suggestion in this thread to toggle alarms off and on every
evening. This never worked for me.

I found that power-cycling every evening did resolve the issue most of
the time. What I mean is that I removed the power cord from my
Squeeebox Radio and then reconnected it a few seconds later. I don't
really care for this solution.

For the last week, I have been using the Server that is embedded in my
Squeezebox Touch. Logitech refers to this as the "Touch Server." This
piece of software takes the place of mysqueezebox.com. My Squeezebox
Radio communicates with my Squeezebox Touch instead of the big server
at mysqueezebox.com.

The "Touch Server" has some significant missing features compared to
the big server at mysqueezebox.com. But at least my "Touch Server" is
working.

How is it going with you guys? Did this problem go away by itself? If
Logitech ever fixes this up, I would like to go back to using the big
server at mysqueezebox.com.

One step that I won't be taking is to file a bugzilla report. I see
that several relevant reports have already been filed. They are
resolutely ignored.

Re: [SlimDevices: Radio] Use Squeezebox Touch as server?

Your suggestion is reasonable. My alarm problem is not. :-)

If I create a new alarm, it will usually work. Once. In fact, any
configuration change is likely to cause alarms to work. Once. Every
night, I hard-power-cycle my Squeezebox Radio. That is usually enough
to cause alarms to work properly. Once.

My alarm problems are also intermittent. I mean, sometimes alarms will
work twice, without a power-cycle or configuration change.
Occasionally, my alarms will work zero times afterwards.

Other posters to the "disco" thread report slightly different results.
It's a messy problem.

I am going to wait a few days and monitor alarm performance. I would
like to add info to the "disco" thread, rather than noise. This will
take time.

Re: [SlimDevices: Radio] Use Squeezebox Touch as server?

2011-09-24 Thread arnstein

OK, so now my Squeezebox Radio is telling me that it is using my
Squeezebox Touch as a server. I didn't have to configure it in any
way.

I can't wait to see if alarms start working properly. I will post to
the "alarm defaults to DISCO all the time" thread after I accumulate
some information.

[SlimDevices: Radio] Use Squeezebox Touch as server?

2011-09-24 Thread arnstein

I have a Squeezebox Radio and a Squeezebox Touch. I keep both connected
to internet 24/7. I use alarms on the Radio and these are not working
very well. I am at the point of trying things at random.

Can I use my Squeezebox Touch as a server to my Squeezebox Radio? I
would like to reduce dependency on mysqueezebox.com. I cannot find menu
items on either machine that would allow me to do this. I have activated
the server feature of my Squeezebox Touch. Maybe this feature is a
different kind of server from the "Squeezebox Server Software" that can
be downloaded from mysqueezebox.com?

I have the two machines synced to each other so they definitely can
communicate.

Does the client/server relationship require that I activate uPnP on my
wireless router? I have this router feature turned off right now (it is
a security risk).

Thanks for any suggestions.

Re: [SlimDevices: Radio] alarm defaults to DISCO all the time

2011-09-21 Thread arnstein

I have been affected by this issue for months. It has been getting
worse. Recently, I have been getting the backup alarm sound almost
every morning.

The work-around suggested by bluegaspode does not work for me. I have
been power-cycling my Squeezebox Radio every evening. This seems to get
my preferred alarm sound to work, but I have not tested this enough to
know if it is a reliable work-around.

My Squeezebox Radio software is up to date, according to its
Settings/Advanced/... menu.

Is Logitech working on a solution? Would anything be accomplished if I
complain? If so, what is the most effective way to complain?
