If it was a subtle reminder aimed at me it wouldn't have helped.
Neither of the threads listed is of any further help, and I've actually
contributed to one of them in the past.

I've got a bit more information about the funky bass bug on my system.

My Radio was working fine, but recently I've moved into my spare room
while my room is being redecorated. My wireless router is now in the
same room as me, and the Radio has a signal strength of 100%

My alarm is set to play BBC Radio 2, which worked fine when I was in my
room, but in the spare room doesn't work AT ALL. I get the funky bass
playing every morning.

I also noticed that if I just pressed the preset button that BBC Radio
2 is saved on, the first time I pressed it, it didn't play and the
display showed a message like "Forbidden" followed by the web link to
the stream. If I clicked the button again the radio started playing.

So last night I changed the alarm so that it is set to play BBC Radio
London. And that played fine - no funky bass for me this morning.

So I don't know if the bug is caused by the wireless signal being too
strong, or whether it is a problem with certain radio stations. Or a
combination of the two.

Either way, it's getting close to me having to throw the radio away
before my wife sticks it somewhere uncomfortable :(

As if my magic, my Radio played it this morning for the first time in
months.

A quick check of my WHS and I saw that there was a new version of SbS
available and for some reason that had stopped the service!

Love the hack to replace the noise with something more soothing though
- will have to do that.

I've had it. I fixed it by replacing my wireless router with a less
rubbish one, as it was being caused by the Radio losing the wireless
connection (and the wireless icon turning blue)

On my Boom the menu is listed thus:

But on my Radio the "Internet Radio" is missing from the menu, which

I've gone into the settings to see if the option is turned off but it's
not listed anywhere there either.

I'm probably doing something daft. Anyone know what it is?

Re: [SlimDevices: Radio] Alarming behaviour

2009-11-18 Thread furtive

Well the design is flawed then. If a non repeating alarm only works for
one day, why is there the option to chose a number of days? It makes no
sense.

If you only wanted it to work for one day you should logically only
choose one day and set it to non-repeating.

[SlimDevices: Radio] Alarming behaviour

2009-11-18 Thread furtive

I have a repeating alarm on my Radio to wake me up for work at 7:15
every weekday

However this week I am on a course and have to get up earlier so I
setup a second alarm for Mon-Fri at 6:00 and set it to non-repeating as
I only wanted to be woken at that hour this week. I kept the other alarm
in place for my wife.

On Monday the Radio woke me up as expected at 6:00, but didn't on
Tuesday (fortunately one of my children did so I wasn't late!)

It seems that if you set an alarm to non-repeat it only works for a
single day, and not all the days you have selected it to work which is
not what I would expect it to do at all, and makes it fairly useless

Is this a documented "feature" of the alarm function, and is there any
chance it can be fixed?

[SlimDevices: Radio] A couple of bugbears..

2009-10-13 Thread furtive

I'm using my radio as a bedside alarm clock and it works great.

However I have a couple of issues with it

Firstly, when the alarm goes off the display changes from showing the
big time to showing the time in a tiny font along with text telling me I
can either turn it off or snooze it. This means that in my half-alseep
state I can't just glance at the radio to find out what time it is,
especially without my glasses on. What is needed is a setting that keeps
the clock BIG when the alarm activates. I know my alarm has gone off,
and I know I can turn it off, so I don't need the screen to tell me that
every morning.

And secondly it would be great to have a screensaver that shows the
clock BIG but also has 2 lines of text to show Now Playing information.
There is plenty of room on the screen to do this but currently I can
either have the time displayed or I can have the album art displayed
(with a microscopic clock)

Both of the above would greatly enhance the functionality of the radio
as a clock radio alarm clock thingy

If I go into "Alarm Sound" the only options are "the current playlist",
