Re: [SlimDevices: Radio] Station blocked by broadcaster
You can still listen to all these stations on your Squeezebox using DAR.fm. Here's how. Go to http://DAR.fm and create an account. Tell it to record whatever show/station you want. If you click the red record button next to a show it will automatically setup a lifetime pass so all future broadcasts will be recorded. Go to www.mysqueezebox.com and add the MP3tunes using the SAME credentials you used to create an account on DAR.fm. On your Squeezebox go to MP3tunes and then look in the Playlist. You'll see each radio show/station listed. Select the one you want to play. What's great about this setup is that you can rewind/pause/ff anytime. Now if we can just get Logitech to add a 30 sec skip button it would be magical! -- MR -- mp3michael mp3michael's Profile: http://forums.slimdevices.com/member.php?userid=38532 View this thread: http://forums.slimdevices.com/showthread.php?t=89618 ___ Radio mailing list Radio@lists.slimdevices.com http://lists.slimdevices.com/mailman/listinfo/radio
Re: [SlimDevices: Radio] MP3tunes
Glad MP3tunes is working for you. The problem was not with MP3tunes. We support a wide range of players from web to Android to iOS to Roku and only Squeezebox exhibited problems for 3 days. After alerting Logitech the problem went away. I use MP3tunes/DAR.fm with my Squeezebox almost every day because I can now play any talk show on demand. There is no slowness either. If you're having an issue, please contact me and I'll be happy to investigate it. -- MR mich...@michaelrobertson.com -- mp3michael mp3michael's Profile: http://forums.slimdevices.com/member.php?userid=38532 View this thread: http://forums.slimdevices.com/showthread.php?t=87359 ___ Radio mailing list Radio@lists.slimdevices.com http://lists.slimdevices.com/mailman/listinfo/radio
Re: [SlimDevices: Radio] Listening to any talk show on demand on your Squeezebox
Chip, Thanks for the feedback. Let me address the numbered cons: 1) The DAR system puts the day in the Playlist URL. Is this not sufficient for you? 2) DAR.fm has 1200 stations in our database. It's true stations do not make their stream URLs easy to find because they want you to go to their web site. Radiotime has a great database that they've pulled together over the last 6 years. We tried to work with them but they didn't want to work with us. So we're making our own. We've only been at it for 3 months and already have a good start. 3) We are testing .asx support which is a format many stations use. We should be able to support that shortly. This should enable the addition of 1000 stations. 4) We can add a smaller time increment to the recording time. I will talk to my engineers about this. 5) A free locker will hold about 70 hours of recording assuming the station transmits at 24kbps aac. This is the bit rate for most AM/FM stations. If the station transmits at a higher bit rate (like some net only stations do) it could be less than 70 hours. For $20 users can get space for about 700 hours so support DAR.fm if you like it and want more storage! I will check out your radio show. -- MR CEO, DAR.fm -- mp3michael mp3michael's Profile: http://forums.slimdevices.com/member.php?userid=38532 View this thread: http://forums.slimdevices.com/showthread.php?t=87361 ___ Radio mailing list Radio@lists.slimdevices.com http://lists.slimdevices.com/mailman/listinfo/radio
Re: [SlimDevices: Radio] Listening to any talk show on demand on your Squeezebox
There are 1200+ stations on DAR.fm to record, but there are many more on the net that are not yet in the system. It's easy to add a station, you just need the streaming URL. Here's instructions about how to find them. 1) Go to Google .com and search for the station name and/or call letters and pls or m3u together in one search like this: kabc pls [OR] kabc m3u 2) Sift through the Google results looking for any URL that ends in .pls. Copy this entire URL. 3) Test the URL in iTunes. Open iTunes. From the Advanced menu select Open Audio Stream and paste the URL in. If you hear nothing that is not a correct URL. Keep trying different URLs until you hear the desired audio then you'll know you have a good URL is good 4) Add the station to DAR.fm by going to this URL http://www.dar.fm/streamadd.php Type in the particulars of the station (location, genre, time zone) and then paste the URL in. It will instantly be available for recording on DAR.fm and playback on Squeezebox. -- mp3michael mp3michael's Profile: http://forums.slimdevices.com/member.php?userid=38532 View this thread: http://forums.slimdevices.com/showthread.php?t=87361 ___ Radio mailing list Radio@lists.slimdevices.com http://lists.slimdevices.com/mailman/listinfo/radio
[SlimDevices: Radio] Listening to any talk show on demand on your Squeezebox
We're beta testing a new service called which operates like a Tivo for radio and we want to invite Squeezebox users to try it out. Using this service you can record radio shows and music station broadcasts to be recorded and then listen to them on demand with your Squeezebox. It operates like a DVR, but for radio content instead of TV content. As with a DVR you can time shift content and skip commercials/segments you're not interested in. It is free to use and the show guide has thousands of popular and obscure shows to choose from. The service is called http://www.DAR.fm and here's how you can try it: 1) Go to DAR.fm and search for either a show name or station. When you locate what you want click the Record button (it's the red circle). 2) Either create an account or login with your existing account. PLEASE NOTE: If you have a MP3tunes account then simply use those credentials. 3) Go to mysqueezebox.com and add the MP3tunes app to your device. Be sure and select Put icon on home page for easy access. You will need to enter the same credentials you used in step #2. 4) After each recording you should receive an email letting you know that it recorded. Go to your Squeezebox and select the MP3tunes icon and then select Playlists. In this list you should see a playlist containing your recording. It should being with DAR. Select it and enjoy radio goodness! TIP: You can pause content with the pause button. If you want to rew/ff then hold down the rew/ff button until a progress bar appears. Then release the button. Press and hold it again and you'll see the timer advance or rewind. Release it when you've moved the desired time. Please give it a try. Email any feedback to me: mich...@michaelrobertson.com.
