[SlimDevices: Radio] Radio + MSB.com + UE
Just dug out a Radio that was purchased new some years ago to use as a standalone Internet radio on MSB.com. Firstly I had great trouble finding MSB.com in the menus. I [i]think[i/] I finally found it under Settings>Advanced>Networking & set up some Favourites which were also stored on the six presets. Next time I powered it on it connected straight away to LMS & I now cannot find MSB.com in the menus again. Can someone please confirm where the location of MSB.com should be & offer any ideas as to why the connection to it has dropped? Given that this Radio will only (for the foreseeable future) run standalone, would I be better off converting it to UE Radio? -------- rbz5416's Profile: http://forums.slimdevices.com/member.php?userid=12089 View this thread: http://forums.slimdevices.com/showthread.php?t=105735 ___ Radio mailing list Radio@lists.slimdevices.com http://lists.slimdevices.com/mailman/listinfo/radio

Check which channel your router is broadcasting on. I've seen similarly random behaviour on channel 13. Radio only seems happy on channel 11 or below. rbz5416's Profile: http://forums.slimdevices.com/member.php?userid=12089 View this thread: http://forums.slimdevices.com/showthread.php?t=100548 ___ Radio mailing list Radio@lists.slimdevices.com http://lists.slimdevices.com/mailman/listinfo/radio

But it's kind of a catch 22 - if the plugins were better documented then I dare say more would use them & in turn, hopefully donate towards your efforts. I assumed that Sue was referring to Information Screen so that's where I went looking. It would never have occurred to me to look at Custom Clock because I don't want a clock! The Wiki for Clock Helper talks about creating text fields but when I go to the settings for the plugin, I'm just offered what appears to be a skin creation option. Maybe you could prompt some of the testers to document the screens they've created? Would it be possible to incorporate a preview to save having to exit all the way back to the real Now Playing & then drill all the way down back into the menus to make another change? Your VU is close enough to what I want but I'd really like some easy steps to creating just the three lines of text (no graphics) with bigger fonts if anyone has the time. Re: [SlimDevices: Radio] Why Only Two Options for Now Playing?
I'm sure it's very clever. But like the whole SlimDevices/Squeezebox ethos, it seems to work on the basis that you're either a member of some secret society that "just knows" how it works or you have to sit clicking buttons & taking wild guesses at what's supposed to happen. I appreciate it's all unpaid but fail to understand why he can't simply document how his plugins are to be used. His Wiki page gives nothing beyond installation so I guess the next step would be to trawl the forums trying to find some clues. I really don't have the time or the inclination to "play". Just wondered what the reasoning was behind the Now Playing options for the Radio being so limited in the first place? I'd have thought it would make more sense to have them standardised across the range? -- rbz5416 ---- rbz5416's Profile: http://forums.slimdevices.com/member.php?userid=12089 View this thread: http://forums.slimdevices.com/showthread.php?t=89006 ___ Radio mailing list Radio@lists.slimdevices.com http://lists.slimdevices.com/mailman/listinfo/radio

Anyone know why the Radio only has two options for the Now Playing screen? I'd really like to be able to ditch artwork & have a decent sized (readable) text. Perhaps if you post where in the UK you are someone local can offer to work with you to verify. May be worth doing a hard reset of the Radio & router if you haven't already. I read recently of someone having connectivity issues after trying an SD card. Wouldn't reconnect to SBS or MSB.com but like you, everything else on the network was fine. He reckoned resetting everything cured it but IIRC, he's already done the server & SB so it appeared that the router was the answer. -- rbz5416 ---- rbz5416's Profile: http://forums.slimdevices.com/member.php?userid=12089 View this thread: http://forums.slimdevices.com/showthread.php?t=88205 ___ Radio mailing list Radio@lists.slimdevices.com http://lists.slimdevices.com/mailman/listinfo/radio
Re: [SlimDevices: Radio] Starting to think this is a bit of dog!
"Forbidden" would suggest that you were maybe trying to access a station that is not allowed from your geographical location? Or maybe is just restricted at certain hours. If radio playback is stopping & won't re-start it may just be poor wifi coverage or interference from a neighbours router or other wireless device. try downloading one of the wifi utilities to check what else may be broadcasting on the same/similar channel to your router & help you select a clearer one. http://www.metageek.net/products/inssider/ http://www.softpedia.com/get/Network-Tools/Network-Monitoring/NetStumbler.shtml -- rbz5416 -------- rbz5416's Profile: http://forums.slimdevices.com/member.php?userid=12089 View this thread: http://forums.slimdevices.com/showthread.php?t=88205 ___ Radio mailing list Radio@lists.slimdevices.com http://lists.slimdevices.com/mailman/listinfo/radio

Does the scanner always stop in the same place? if so it could be a problem file/tag/art. If it's random then problems have been reported with 7.5.4. Some have reported successfully fixing scanning issues in by replacing scanner.exe with the version from 7.5.3 or just running 7.5.3 entirely. Anti-virus has also been known to cause scanner issues. -- rbz5416 rbz5416's Profile: http://forums.slimdevices.com/member.php?userid=12089 View this thread: http://forums.slimdevices.com/showthread.php?t=88205 ___ Radio mailing list Radio@lists.slimdevices.com http://lists.slimdevices.com/mailman/listinfo/radio
