Are you sure SBR is setup with your correct MySB.com account? SBR >
Settings > MySB.com (I think) will show which account SBR is using.
If not the correct account you can do a Factory Reset on SBR and the
initial setup screens will ask if you want SBR to keep current account
or create a new one (i.e the correct one).

The player is never really "alone" (i.e. by itself). It must be
connected to a server, somewhere, to stream anything.
If connected to the online MySB.com server (no LMS).. this server
cannot resolve https streams.
If connected to your local LMS server. this server CAN resolve https
streams.

Suggest you do so from the MySB.com site, not the player. Don't delete
the app, actually delete the TuneIn account. MySB.com > My Apps >
TuneIn

I just deleted my TuneIn account in this manner, then reentered my login
info. It did take 3 attempts to get it to take, guessing just a lag
between MySB,com and TuneIn.

If there is a way at all it's probably not worth the bother. Just
ignore Radio and only use TuneIn app. I highly suggest also using the
ShoutCast app and the RadioNet plugin (LMS required). Although I have a
TuneIn account and the SB app I never really use it.

Those same categories appear under both Radio and in the TuneIn menu

You can do this yourself with SB Radio or Touch using Factory Reset.

SB Radio Factory Reset =
- power off Radio (press & hold POWER button, see "goodbye" on screen)
- press & hold “+” button
- power ON Radio
- continue holding “+” until you see "Factory Settings Restored"
- wait till Radio completely reboots on it’s own

After reset it should offer a screen that says “this Radio is registered
to x...@abc.com”. Need to scroll down on screen to choices of Continue
or No, register to new account.

Some very basic WiFi tweaks to possibly improve signal strength and
reliability. Reminder: your SB device is not N capable.

___Router Administration Basics (1-5 require admin access to your
router):
1. use a unique SSID name (name of your network/router)
2a. if using a G WiFi: set WiFi to G only (turns off a & b modes)
2b. if using an N WiFi: set to G Compatibility mode (if using G
devices)
3. change the broadcast channel to the least used channel near you (see
*)
4. select a FIXED ch, do not use the “auto ch switching” on the router
5. choose only channels 1 or 6 or 11
___Physical (location)
6. router and WiFi antenna orientation adjustments can help signal
strength
7. try to locate the router as “central” to the home as possible,
keeping in mind length & width & height
8. keep router away from other electronic devices (cordless phones, ISP
modem, computers)
___Simple Maintenance
9. reboot WiFi router every once in a while (once a month is usually
sufficient)

* If your WiFi network card software already gives the ch numbers and
the signal strength of all nearby networks, that's all you need. But
there are free programs like NetStumbler if needed.

Yes, but a device connected to wifi doesn't mean it can see the
internet. for multiple reasons.
So your Duet and LMS cannot login to MySB.com service, but your computer
can go to MySB.com and login fine?
Did you try my suggestion? Duet connected to LMS and play a song from
your own music library?

I'd verify your MySB.com password on Duet & Controller & LMS.
LMS > Control Panel > Diagnostics.. what is reported for ALL pings,
ports, IP's?
LMS > Settings > MySB.com.. does it say Login Invalid?

Then see if you can connect LMS to your MySB.com account.

Re: [SlimDevices: Radio] WiFi connection gets lost on two radio's

WiFi basics

Some very basic WiFi tweaks to possibly improve signal strength and
reliability

Why?
1. This prevents accidental connections. WiFi devices can only
differentiate between different WiFi’s by that WiFi’s name (SSID). So
if both you and your neighbors WiFi are both named “Linksys” your
devices may accidentally connect to your neighbors WiFi. And your
neighbor may accidentally connect to your WiFi.

2. The old a & b WiFi protocols are very slow, if any a or b device
connects to your network all devices on your WiFi will slow down to the
a or b speed. Also broadcasting in a and b can cause the G signal to be
weaker. Turning off a & b broadcasting on your WiFi can give as much as
a 20% signal boost to your G signal.

3. Rather obvious, G devices need to communicate with a G signal

4. To see what WiFi channels are in use near you a free program like
NetStumbler
can be used if your computers WiFi program does not show channel
numbers.
Ex: If the strongest competing signals around you are ch's
6 and 11, then choose
ch 1 for your WiFi.

5. Ex: ch’s 2, 3, 4, 5 will overlap with ch’s 1 and 6

6. Just moving the router a few feet up/down or in a different part of
the room can make a big difference. Ex: mine is on the shelf of a
first floor closet in the center of the house, so the WiFi is basically
“centered” for all points in the house. Ethernet cables are CHEAP so
cost wise it is not expensive to move the WiFi router to most anywhere
in the home. Cost aside, it needs access to power and how Ethernet
cables are run to the router is another issue (might be visible)

7. reduces likelihood of RF interference

8. routers are basically a mini linux computer and they can have issues
(memory leaks, DHCP confusion, DNS resolution problems, etc..) like any
other computer where a simple reboot can improve performance. Reboot is
simply unplugging it for 30 seconds, plugging it back in.

SqueezeBox players are only G compatible, the router must utilize the G
spectrum for your player to work on an N router. G speeds are more than
sufficient to handle any audio transmissions over WiFi (i.e. N is not
needed for audio).

No. It is only suggested as a temporary diagnostic to see if the issue
is actually players not connecting to WiFi or players not connecting to
LMS.

There is nothing unique about having two Radio's or any combination of
multiple SB players. The issue is likely your WiFi environment and/or
your network (like having duplicate IP's).

Try rebooting your router then reboot Boom. Just reboots (unplug, plug

After a power outage or ISP service glich my Boom (and only my Boom)

1. did it help?
2. highly unlikely

Try switching one Radio to MySB.com, see if issue continues. Might be
that LMS is the one losing it's network connection, not the Radio's.

Sure there are no near by WiFi's with same SSID name?

Don't think so. I use Pandora with my SB players all connected to
MySB.com (no LMS) and it works fine for me. I don't think https can be
used on MySB.com. Https streams require LMS proxy streaming to SB
players.

Although I believe the usage case for packing up ones internet radio for
travel is extremely rare.. I have done so successfully a number of
times.
I've also seen over the years a number of SB users post about regularly
bringing their SB players to their vacation/holiday/weekend homes.

Any private network with a simple encryption pass phrase works fine
(basically every home network). The public networks requiring a browser
(hotels etc..) won't work because SB players have no browser..

Even then, public networks requiring a browser interface will work if
you use your laptop and tether/network-share your SB player to the
laptop. Something I'd never both with myself, but entirely doable. ;)

Don't bother with WPS. It only adds complexity to setup and no real
security benefit. Just use WPA2 alone (not WPA+WPA2).

Connecting to a hotspot or just another router? Hotspot typically
requires password screen (not encryption password) to access. Radio
cannot see nor respond to these screens.

- for that amount (and even lass) people will simply buy a

2017-12-05 Thread toby10

As with anything all comes down to price and condition. Sure
these are not warranty returns? Seems odd to have that many in one lot
absent a PSU and packaging.

Your costs could entail Radio + PSU + shipping + your time to test +
box/packaging to ship to buyer + transaction fee (ebay)...
In comparison, the original UE Radio, new in box with 2 year warranty,
was only $99 and included battery and remote. Margins seem a bit slim
to me. :)

p.s. Just curious... Where abouts are you in Ireland? I was just in
Ireland for two weeks in August. My third time there and already
planning another trip in 2019.

Hey, I'm all for having access to iHR on SB players. Though,

It's not really a server like LMS and is greatly lacking in control and
customization compared to LMS. UE Radio doesn't actually connect to the
local UE Library program, UE only connects to the UE online server and
"refers" back to your local UE Library program/tool.

Correct. SB does not support the iHeartRadio app. Stations
disappearing from iHeartRadio (UE) or TuneIn (SB) access have nothing to
do with UE or SB. The stations are choosing to limit their stream
access, usually to ad supported web access only formats.

Post some of the actual URL's in here for others to try. One
possibility is how and where you got those URL's. If they were obtained
while you were on the stations web site then you copied a site specific
player URL, a stream that can only be played while actually on the
stations site.

Using the same method you described above cut & paste with this URL, I
know this one works:

Looks like WHAS has limited itself to only iHeartRadio. SB players
cannot access iHeartRadio. You can contact the station and ask for a
direct stream URL to paste into your Favorites, but I doubt they can (or
will) do this.

This is happening more and more with stations. They are signing
exclusive contracts with iHeartRadio for all stream content. Makes
sense for the stations as they can turn over all streaming
responsibilities to a well known national stream aggregator with deep
pockets. But it's bad news for other stream aggregators like TuneIn and
will eventually make hardware players like our SB's pretty much
worthless for station streaming. :(

Rebooting router (simply unplug, wait 5 seconds, plug back in) should
not cause any harm. In fact it is a good and recommended maintenance
procedure everyone should be doing monthly.

Think about it what is the first thing all customer service reps
tell you to do when you call about any electronic device? Reboot the
device. They don't request this to waste your time. They do so because
*many* issues are resolved by simply rebooting. Especially
computer/software devices (such as a router).

cable/sat box, DVR, cell phone, computer, tablet, TV, modem, router,
stereo, fax, printer, SqueezeBox player, iPod/mp3 player, etc. all
need a reboot now & then.

Can't hurt to try fixed ch. Just make sure it's the least used ch near

Unless you have IP conflicts I wouldn't bother with fixed IP, nothing to
do with WiFi reception. I've never bothered with fixed IP's with

Yes, but if the issue is with his network or ISP (like bandwidth
limiting/shaping/filtering) then streaming a 320k station would likely
reveal that.

Time Warner (his ISP) is going through some major changes nationally
including even a name change. Whether these changes involve new
streaming limitations or throttling I have no idea.

Re: [SlimDevices: Radio] Pandora stops playing after a couple songs

2017-01-25 Thread toby10

Also try another station/service. A good one to use for testing is Linn
radio. Radio > Internet Radio > Search > *linn*
The first three on the search results are Linn 320k stations. Play one
of those and see if there are any playback issues.

Re: [SlimDevices: Radio] Squeezebox radio update?

2016-12-09 Thread toby10

Logitech claimed many customers were confused with SB players connecting
to two servers (MySB.com and LMS). I can certainly understand that. So
they made the UE Radio capable of only connecting to the UE online
server to simplify this issue. But this meant dumbing down the UE Music
Library on the computer for local music playback. This UE Music Library
also (and only) connects to the UE online server. Big drawback is if UE
online server goes down you have ZERO access to anything (online
stations or your local music). They also dumbed down the online web UI
for UE, SB (MySB.com) is much more customizable and has more features
and control options.

If MySB.com goes down you can still connect to LMS for BOTH local music
and basic internet station streaming.

None listed? Or none connected? Big difference.

None listed = no players are registered to that MySB.com account
None connected = players are listed but are not currently connected to
MySB.com (instead connected to LMS)

Make sure your MySB.com login is correct and the same for all players
and LMS and your computer web UI. To verify players, switch all players
to MySB.com, log onto MySB.com web UI, make sure all players are listed
and say "Connected". To verify LMS, go to LMS > Settings > MySB.com,
any mention of "Invalid" for login? Note that the Password on that
screen will correctly show as blank.

Re: [SlimDevices: Radio] Radio + MSB.com + UE

2016-06-12 Thread toby10

This is a very old comparison and I've never used UE but I believe it is
still (mostly) valid.

SqueezeBox vs UE

LOCAL SERVER (present on SB not on UE)
Local server web UI
Remote server web UI (ex: laptop web UI access to local server)

Choice of server connection (local server and/or online server)

Server Plugins
Stored Playlists
Podcast support (present in UE but very limited)

Legacy support for previous SB players

UPnP/DLNA support on local server

Local server support for NAS platform (officially supported)

Local server customization and advanced settings
Software players
Smartphone audio playback

THIRD PARTY PLAYER CONTROL APPS (more features and customizations than
Logitech apps)
SB has a number of them in multiple platforms
UE has only one (that I know of) and is only for IOS/Apple

ONLINE SERVER (present on SB/MySB.com not on UE)
Online web UI (basic playback control, manage favorites, basic player
settings)
Enter and organize direct stream URL via web UI (including cut & paste)

Supports multiple accounts for same streaming service like Pandora
RSS feeds
TuneIn user accounts & user customization

PLAYER (SB Radio has these UE Radio does not)
Menu customization (reorder, hide, add to Home menu, etc…)

Third Party Plugins & Apps

ONLINE SERVICES
All the same. UE had offered iHeartRadio (not on SB) but I believe
iHeart has since been discontinued on UE

INTERNET REQUIRMENT
UE requires internet connection (even for local music library)
SB does not and can use LMS server on PC/Mac/NAS/plug computer, or Touch
player as server or MySB.com

Once setup and first connected to MySB.com it should just connect to
MySB.com automatically. If not then something is likely wrong with your
network or ISP.

Verified your MySB.com login is correct on both LMS and the Radio? Can
you log into MySB.com on your computer?

Is LMS connecting to MySB.com? LMS > Control Panel > Diagnostics, what
is reported for ALL pings, ports, IP's?

I'm not in front of LMS but I believe MySB.com is under LMS > Extras >
Music Source?

Keep in mind it is the station limiting it's access to only the
iHeartRadio service (guessing, haven't looked)

Options:
- convert your SB Radio to UE Radio, now you have iHeartRadio service
(but no LMS)
- contact the stations and ask if they have a direct stream url (url
directly to their server not requiring any other third party service
like iHeartRadio)
My guess is they do not offer such a stream (absent a web browser)

If the laptop is Windows simply google "internet connection sharing" to
see how to set it up in your laptop network settings. Essentially you
are turning the laptops network card into a router. Typical setup:
laptop is connected to the network via WiFi, Radio is connected to
laptop via ethernet wire.

How you do this on a Mac I have no idea. iPad? Dunno.

I'm assuming you mean the hospital WiFi requires your devices to enter a
passphrase and/or login to actually get onto the network. Likely it
also requires that you accept their terms of service by checking a box.
These actions require a web browser on the device which your computer
and iPad do have, but your Radio does not have such a web browser.

Your Radio is correctly saying it "is" connected, but it is being
restricted or fenced in from actually accessing the network or internet
because it cannot see nor respond to the web screens required to
proceed.

actually required for Spotify use. Again, it's something on your end

As suggested, likely networking issue on your end. My Radio works fine

have changed their streaming format.

Tried rebooting your router? Stations that are not working are from
your Favorites or Presets? Might need to update those URL's.
