It works like a charm. I've been using Squeezebox technology for a very long time, but I think it's time to move on to a more supported product. Since I'm now using Apple Music in place of Rhapsody, I'm a happy camper! bocaboy's Profile: http://forums.slimdevices.com/member.php?userid=37290 View this thread: http://forums.slimdevices.com/showthread.php?t=103896 ___ Radio mailing list Radio@lists.slimdevices.com http://lists.slimdevices.com/mailman/listinfo/radio

Re: [SlimDevices: Radio] Apple's new streaming music service
Ah, ok, I tend to forget about iTunes on Windows. AirPlay is not strictly licensable, you need to use dedicated encryption hardware for it which is not included in the SBs. Some WiFi chipsets have it included. You no longer need to use these but if you don't then you need to use the encryption chip instead. --- learn more about iPeng, the iPhone and iPad remote for the Squeezebox and Logitech UE Smart Radio as well as iPeng Party, the free Party-App, at penguinlovesmusic.com *New: iPeng 8, the Universal App for iOS 7 and iOS 8* pippin's Profile: http://forums.slimdevices.com/member.php?userid=13777 View this thread: http://forums.slimdevices.com/showthread.php?t=103896 ___ Radio mailing list Radio@lists.slimdevices.com http://lists.slimdevices.com/mailman/listinfo/radio
Re: [SlimDevices: Radio] Apple's new streaming music service
Pippin, your statement just isn't accurate. If you use iTunes for Windows you have the ability to use AirPlay, which will allow you to stream to any device that supports AirPlay. As an example, here's a Yamaha receiver that supports AirPlay. http://smile.amazon.com/dp/B00VIRGM88. Here's a Sienoc 5V DC Wifi Music Streaming Receiver for $30 that also supports AirPlay. http://smile.amazon.com/dp/B00NTJ4D1G. AirPlay is a licensable technology that -could- be part of a SqueezeRadio, but I doubt we'll ever see it. bocaboy's Profile: http://forums.slimdevices.com/member.php?userid=37290 View this thread: http://forums.slimdevices.com/showthread.php?t=103896 ___ Radio mailing list Radio@lists.slimdevices.com http://lists.slimdevices.com/mailman/listinfo/radio
Re: [SlimDevices: Radio] Apple's new streaming music service
You need an Apple device to stream Apple Music. You can redirect the audio but that's somewhat trivial but you can't play it right now without Apple hardware.
Pippin, that statement isn't 100% accurate. Apple uses AirPlay as a way of redirecting audio and video to a TV or stereo. While it works best with Apple equipment, like Apple TV, it also works with Yamaha receivers and other devices that have licensed AirPlay. If you search for AirPlay devices on Amazon, you'll find quite a few. I suspect that Logitech won't go that route, but wouldn't it be nice if they did! In the meantime, I use Nicecast to redirect my Mac's audio to my Squeeze radio. To me, however, this is like renting a truck to go grocery shopping. It just shouldn't be so hard. bocaboy's Profile: http://forums.slimdevices.com/member.php?userid=37290 View this thread: http://forums.slimdevices.com/showthread.php?t=103896 ___ Radio mailing list Radio@lists.slimdevices.com http://lists.slimdevices.com/mailman/listinfo/radio
Re: [SlimDevices: Radio] Apple's new streaming music service
Anyone is going to work on it whenever Apple releases an API. So far they have not done this and they have not indicated if or when that's going to change --- learn more about iPeng, the iPhone and iPad remote for the Squeezebox and Logitech UE Smart Radio as well as iPeng Party, the free Party-App, at penguinlovesmusic.com *New: iPeng 8, the Universal App for iOS 7 and iOS 8* pippin's Profile: http://forums.slimdevices.com/member.php?userid=13777 View this thread: http://forums.slimdevices.com/showthread.php?t=103896 ___ Radio mailing list Radio@lists.slimdevices.com http://lists.slimdevices.com/mailman/listinfo/radio

I would very much like to know if this is happening as well? Ick Stream has been doing some interesting stuff with TIDAL. But I'd like to know when anyone is going to work on apple. [SlimDevices: Radio] Apple's new streaming music service
Yesterday, Apple debuted their new music streaming service to go up against the likes of Spotify and Rhapsody. Has anyone released a plug-in for this service, or does anyone know of a way to access this new service via a Squeezebox Radio and the Logitech Media Server?
