[SlimDevices: Radio] DHCP client issue

2010-05-29 Thread Aslak3

Lately my Radio has been loosing it's DHCP lease, or rather, not
renewing it.

>From the Radio log:

Code:

  May 30 05:35:33 udhcpc[783]: Sending discover...
  May 30 05:35:36 udhcpc[783]: Sending discover...
  May 30 05:35:39 udhcpc[783]: Sending discover...
  May 30 05:35:43 root: udhcpc_action eth1 leasefail ip=

This repeats again and again - once every 30 seconds, and infact this
is all that's in the log for dhcp. I'm still not sure if this is
caused by a missing link onto the wireless, or is a problem with the
DHCP client. No other wireless devices had a problem at the same time,
eg. the Boom on DHCP wireless was fine. I can get things working again
without rebooting by restarting networking via the settings/advanced
screen on the Radio. Unfortunately I can only go back about 20 minutes
in the syslog message file. So I can't see the logs for when the
problem started.

I can see from the DHCP server log (ISC DHCP 3.0.6 FWIW) that there are
no lease requests for the Radio MAC. Normally it sees them every 30
minutes.

I'm really reluctant to put the Radio on a static IP to see if it is a
problem with the ethernet/wireless layer or a DHCP problem, but I guess
I might have to.

Has anyone seen this kind of problem before? What's weird is it seems
like a new problem. I've been running 7.5 since it came out without
issues.

Re: [SlimDevices: Radio] DHCP client issue

2010-06-06 Thread stringmn

Just recieved my Squeezebox radio, already have the boom and duet at
another location. Noticed a similar DHCP issue with the radio. Checked
the DHCP client list on my router (Belkin 54g) and noticed that while
the Radio's MAC address had an ip the hostname was listed as "unknown"
rather than "squeezebox". I reset the DHCP lease from "forever" to "30
mintes" rebooted the router and have not had any issues since.
