Re: [SlimDevices: Radio] How to manually update SB Radio firmware to a beta version

2010-02-13 Thread knuttew

I had to remove the Server from the PC I had installed it
because it messed up the PC:s network connection.

How do I install new firmware manually to my SqueezeBox Radio
without a SqueezeBox Server? Telnet? Commands?

/knuttew

7.4.2 will only be released in a few days... or weeks :-). But the
nightly can be considered stable and has quite a few Radio
 improvements:

What exactly are the improvements for the radio?

Ben is working on a changelog. Mostly reliability of the alarm, network
connectivity, and afaik some memory leak causing the player to crash.

well, I put it on yesterday evening and it spontaneously rebooted twice
while playing. Someone should tell Ben.
Another thing quite annoying: since when you install a new firmware you
have to reinstall applets you had, when you put on the new firmware,
before you reinstall applets, it seems the device can't go in stand-by.
If you press power off button it just stays still on the main menĂ¹.

I reckon the reason you can't go into standby is because you are using a
screensaver for off based on an applet that isn't loaded (eg
CustomClock). I believe standby isn't any lower power is just changes
the display. IIRC 7.5 introduces auto reloading of applets.

[SlimDevices: Radio] How to manually update SB Radio firmware to a beta version

2010-02-04 Thread Rikk

I searched extensively through the forum but couldn't find such a
thread, so I decided to put it here in clear letters.
Now if please someone could complete it with explanations... :)

I know this: you can find all firmware versions available in this site:

http://update.slimdevices.com/update/firmware

but actually for each device (e.g. version 7.5 for baby) you find 4
files:

baby.version
baby.version.sha
baby_7.5.0_r8445.bin
baby_7.5.0_r8445.bin.sha

wich one do I need? Or all of them?

I know I have to put the needed in the firmware folder of the server.

And then?

thanks guys! :)

I'm sorry, I didn't get it. My SB Server is updated to the last version
it decided (I mean: I enabled the auto update function, so, if it
worked, it should be up to date), but after I download the files in the
Firmware directory, if I browse the Radio menus to firmware update, it
gives me only the 7.4.1 version available.
What do I miss?

Are you saying that if the SB Server software is updated, it will
automatically update the radio firmware?
