[SlimDevices: Radio] Lose WiFi after unplugging???

2010-04-16 Thread RedCoat999

An Amazon Reviewer says you lose the WiFi connection settings if you
unplug and the plug it back in somewhere else in the house:

"The Squeezbox loses the wifi access if it loses power. I guess this is
a security plus, but its a usefulness minus since it means i cannot
simply unplug the device and move it around the house."

Is this true
Thanks

No it's bull don't put to much faith in amazon reviewers.

Of course it drops of the network unpowered, but it will right back
when powered again.

maybe not on the same ip of you use dhcp but it remembers the wifi
password and ssid.

Mnyb is correct. That reviewer is either a moron or has a very whacky
network.
I move my Boom & Radio all the time, plug them in, they automatically
goes through their regular network setup, 30 seconds tops to playing
music again.

2010-04-16 Thread snarlydwarf

Whenever I visit the inlaws, I grab my Radio from work, and take it
along with me. It remembers the network name at the inlaws as well as
the key and is online as soon as I plug it in.

So, um, yeah it drops Wifi when I unplug it and toss it in the car for
a couple hours. It comes right back when I take it out of the car and
plug it back in.

(Not as simple as "buy a battery pack!" in that case, since it's 100
some miles to the inlaws, I don't think their wifi extends that far...)

BS on the reviewer's part. This is the first thing I tried when I
received/installed the battery earlier this week & tested it out.
