Re: [SlimDevices: Radio] Newbie question, sorry...
I understand now that the problem is with the format of the station streaming, AAC. Hopefully, later on, Logitech will issue a new firmware release which fixes that. Using the Remote Control I cutpaste these two links into Favorites (which work fine on the PC): http://radiotime.com/station/s_8334/Europa_FM_1067.aspx http://www.europafm.ro/files/live.m3u For the first link I get an error message and for the second link it keeps waiting for the connection (the little circle form the right is rotating) for hours. Toby10, are any of these links playing on your SB? So the temporary solution would be to upgrade the SB firmware to 7.6 (can I get it back to 7.5 if necessary?) and to try again to run the above mentioned links after being loaded into Favorites. snarlydwarf said: It may be that you have to use a local server for AAC format stations for now. Works fine on 7.6 with a local SBS. I click on .m3u, WinAmp launches and begins playing the stream, double click on the stream name. The result is ShoutCast's URL for that stream. The catch is that ShoutCast may change that URL and your saved play link will be dead. :( -- toby10 toby10's Profile: http://forums.slimdevices.com/member.php?userid=12553 View this thread: http://forums.slimdevices.com/showthread.php?t=82330 ___ Radio mailing list Radio@lists.slimdevices.com http://lists.slimdevices.com/mailman/listinfo/radio

Re: [SlimDevices: Radio] Newbie question, sorry...
I tried this as well. First I get this error message on the Remote Control from the PC: Warning: This stream returned an unknown content type (text/html; charset=utf-8). It may not play properly on your player. Then I've found the link in the Favorites from the SB and I get this message: Error : No items found in playlist (and then the link). Yor second link doesn't work either (it works ok on my PC) Mine is Ver 7.5.1. Can I get 7.6? Can I change the Datacenter? P.S. I bought this for my wife to listen this station (70s and 80s music)... -- iulius99 iulius99's Profile: http://forums.slimdevices.com/member.php?userid=40735 View this thread: http://forums.slimdevices.com/showthread.php?t=82330 ___ Radio mailing list Radio@lists.slimdevices.com http://lists.slimdevices.com/mailman/listinfo/radio

iulius99;580968 Wrote: Mine is Ver 7.5.1. Can I get 7.6? 7.6 is a nightly snapshot: works fine for most people. Only real mishaps I've had recently have been my own fault. You can download it from http://downloads.slimdevices.com/nightly/?ver=7.6 Can I change the Datacenter? Only by moving: they use DNS trickery to put you at the closest datacenter. For Europe, that's in Frankfurt. It shouldn't make a whit of difference in this case. Sometimes one or another may be overloaded, but my guess is that there were issues with 7.5 and AAC playback, so it hides AAC stations on MySB.com. Using a local server should get you around that: it certainly does for me. P.S. I bought this for my wife to listen this station (70s and 80s music)... Yes, not a bad station... not my cup of tea (being more a Peter Gabriel than Phil Collins fan...), but surprising to hear so much British/American music whenever I turn there. Was expecting, well, Romanian music. It may be that you have to use a local server for AAC format stations for now. The Radio and Touch can play them back just fine (at least with 7.6 builds) with no transcoding, but MySB.com may need to upgrade to get it right. (MySB.com always runs stuff based on the most recent official release: stability is crucial for that service, more than features.) -- snarlydwarf snarlydwarf's Profile: http://forums.slimdevices.com/member.php?userid=1179 View this thread: http://forums.slimdevices.com/showthread.php?t=82330 ___ Radio mailing list Radio@lists.slimdevices.com http://lists.slimdevices.com/mailman/listinfo/radio

snarlydwarf;580964 Wrote: .. I wonder if Squeezenetwork for some reason doesn't do AAC for Radios or if that doesn't work on 7.5. Works fine on 7.6 with a local SBS.. Yeah, RadioTime doesn't even list AAC streams on MySB because the older players can't play them. Usually if you cut paste the correct AAC URL into MySB Favorites it will play fine from MySB. Some how they are going to have to fix the AAC issue when using MySB. The new players can play AAC streams and more stations are streaming in AAC. -- toby10 toby10's Profile: http://forums.slimdevices.com/member.php?userid=12553 View this thread: http://forums.slimdevices.com/showthread.php?t=82330 ___ Radio mailing list Radio@lists.slimdevices.com http://lists.slimdevices.com/mailman/listinfo/radio

iulius99;579911 Wrote: Where can I see all the radio stations that SB is able to play? By default, Squeezeboxes use the radio stations listed at http://www.radiotime.com/ as a sort of index. (It's sort of like the olden days Yahoo when they were a 'web index' instead of a poor search engine then web portal and whatever they're trying to be now...) Check there to see if your stations are listed... But, that's still not a complete list and due to the chaos of the 'net, they can't ever be totally complete. But you can also add your own stations to your favorites if you know the stream URL, and if you're nice, you can request RadioTime add them so they'll be available for others. -- snarlydwarf snarlydwarf's Profile: http://forums.slimdevices.com/member.php?userid=1179 View this thread: http://forums.slimdevices.com/showthread.php?t=82330 ___ Radio mailing list Radio@lists.slimdevices.com http://lists.slimdevices.com/mailman/listinfo/radio
