Re: [SlimDevices: Radio] Squeezebox Radio and Best Buy
I was excited to see that BB had the Radio on sale for $149 this week. Only one store in my state (there are 5 or 6) had it in stock. I went to my local store to see if they at least had a display model too see - nothing there, either. It's unfortunate as there's no way to audition this unit without actually buying it first. I miss the days where I could go to CompUSA, Circuit City, Tweeter, and Best Buy - all in one trip. Does anyone know of any other stores (in CT or MA) that might have a Radio for demonstration? -- dugbee dugbee's Profile: http://forums.slimdevices.com/member.php?userid=11331 View this thread: http://forums.slimdevices.com/showthread.php?t=71634 ___ Radio mailing list Radio@lists.slimdevices.com http://lists.slimdevices.com/mailman/listinfo/radio

maggior;487685 Wrote: Oh how I miss Circuit City. [BB Rant] This sort of crap from BB doesn't surprise me. My 2 favorite experiences with BB: 1) New Boards of Canada CD shows in stock on their web site. Go to the store, none on the shelf. Spend 10 minutes finding somebody to help me. The look where I looked on the shelves, look on the web site, and finally go in the back room. I'm told they should have it is stock, but he can't find it. What do you mean can't find it!. I just order it online. 2) I place an order on line for in store pickup to *save time*. I receive my order is ready for pickup email. I run into the store and wait 10 minutes for somebody to become available to get my order which was supposedly ready for pickup. When this person arrives, I watch him walk into the aisle where the product is, grab one, and bring it to the counter. Like I couldn't have done that myself!! My wife with a screaming baby in the car wasn't too happy when I finally get back to the car. At Circuit City, I NEVER EVER EVER had an issue like this! And I bought a lot of stuff there. Can you tell I don't like BB?!?!? I'm glad we have Internet shopping, but sometimes it's good to be able to see the product in person before purchasing. [/BB Rant] The two times I have used the buy online and pick up in store I never received the email. I finally go in the store hours later and they have to do what you describe (go get one off of the shelf and buy it). They also screwed me with that reward zone crap when I bought a laptop. -- lemmy999 lemmy999's Profile: http://forums.slimdevices.com/member.php?userid=9284 View this thread: http://forums.slimdevices.com/showthread.php?t=71634 ___ Radio mailing list Radio@lists.slimdevices.com http://lists.slimdevices.com/mailman/listinfo/radio

Their staff is no more knowledgeable (often less so) than WorstBuy. Customer service is nonexistant. Some of their stores (in particular the former Incredible Universe ones) are dank, dingy holes, although some of their newer stores are not quite so ware-housy. And, whatever you do, *never* buy something that's been returned, discounted and put back on the shelf. I got burned on that once, then I found out why: If you return something that's truly broken and clearly tell them what's wrong with it, they'll still just box it back up and put the discount sticker on it while you're standing there watching. Their plan is clearly to just keep selling it until it finally goes to some poor sucker who can't return it for whatever reason. -- atrocity atrocity's Profile: http://forums.slimdevices.com/member.php?userid=16009 View this thread: http://forums.slimdevices.com/showthread.php?t=71634 ___ Radio mailing list Radio@lists.slimdevices.com http://lists.slimdevices.com/mailman/listinfo/radio

Don't understand why the Squeezebox gets no Love from Best Buy. BB makes a ton on the other Logitech products and they keep a ton in stock at the two BBs by me. They are never out of keyboards, mice, speakers, cameras, and so on. Those of us that know what we are looking for would have no problem finding a Squeezebox next to the Logitech Speakers and Keyboards. Circuit City even had a problem figuring out where to display the Logitech Squeezebox products. In one store, they were by the keyboards and PC speakers. In another, they were by audio components. They belong with audio components, but I guess they figure people are used to looking in the PC accessories dept. for Logitech products. The stores obviously don't really understand what these products are. Good luck to people walking in there that don't really understand them and want to learn. -- maggior Rich - Setup: 2 SB3s, 3 Booms, 1 duet, 1 receiver. The only time I bought something from CC for in-store pickup I got there, email in hand, only to be told they'd sold it to someone else. Nice. Fry's usually offers a good selection and cheap specials. The shopping environment and customer service can be dreadful, however. I think they've gotten the message, they seem to be working to improve the quality of their employees and the customer experience. My own view, and one I have heard from many other people, is that Fry's is a store choice of last resort. If I can get something somewhere else, even if it's slightly more expensive, I will go somewhere else to avoid the usually unpleasant experience of going to Fry's. Re: [SlimDevices: Radio] Squeezebox Radio and Best Buy
I got mine at my local Best Buy. Like others; they use to have a nice display but the Sony stuff is in that place now. I would never have found the Radios and Booms had I not been specifically looking. But they were out on the shelves in the general electronics section. But the stuff was out and available. They had no problem with my exchange for stuck pixels (as expected for a retail purchase) and credited me the difference for the new sales price - so overall I'm happy with the local purchase and service. I'm surprised they talk openly about end cap payments ending and such; I would think they'd want to keep the backend wheeling and dealing separate from customer interactions. Despite all of the discussion about squeezeboxes for everyday Joe; I wonder if retail channels like this are the best route for Logitech anyway. I'd tend to think Amazon sales and other online routes would be there biggest opportunity. Maybe I'm way off base but I imagine a lot of squeezebox purchases happening as planned out acquisition by somewhat tech-savvy buyers rather than off the shelf impulse buys. -Jeff -- jdoering jdoering's Profile: http://forums.slimdevices.com/member.php?userid=17482 View this thread: http://forums.slimdevices.com/showthread.php?t=71634 ___ Radio mailing list Radio@lists.slimdevices.com http://lists.slimdevices.com/mailman/listinfo/radio
