Re: [SlimDevices: Radio] Step forward in iplayer listen again content
Yes the splitting into small chapters would make it difficult to download and manage. The streams from the iplayer are now in WMA format I think though so do you think this is a possibility? I have left a message on the radio labs and iplayer FAQ as to wheather this could be implemented though...you never know. -- tims31 tims31's Profile: http://forums.slimdevices.com/member.php?userid=35695 View this thread: http://forums.slimdevices.com/showthread.php?t=77954 ___ Radio mailing list Radio@lists.slimdevices.com http://lists.slimdevices.com/mailman/listinfo/radio

As the BBC will see no need for it - the BBC iPlayer interface provides a time bar where a user can click anywhere. As I said before it is a player issue. -- bpa bpa's Profile: http://forums.slimdevices.com/member.php?userid=1806 View this thread: http://forums.slimdevices.com/showthread.php?t=77954 ___ Radio mailing list Radio@lists.slimdevices.com http://lists.slimdevices.com/mailman/listinfo/radio
Re: [SlimDevices: Radio] Step forward in iplayer listen again content
Hi Triode, The fast forward responce and speed through programs could be improved which would be good. At the moment if listening to a three hour long listen again content pressing forward and then forward again is how to fast forward but if you miss time the presses the program restarts from the begining. A quicker fast forward would be an advantage such as starts slow and gets quicker the longer the button is held down. A great solution would be to enable say a chapter advance where each press advances say 10-15 mins but suspect that would need to be enabled in the broadcast. Will try and put that forward as a suggestion to the BBC site. Speed of ffwd would not be a BBC issue but a player one. have you tried using the wheel - press FFW until the time bar popup appears then use the wheel. I think the wheel will advanced faster but don't rotate it too fast. When you stop rotating then play will start. -- bpa bpa's Profile: http://forums.slimdevices.com/member.php?userid=1806 View this thread: http://forums.slimdevices.com/showthread.php?t=77954 ___ Radio mailing list Radio@lists.slimdevices.com http://lists.slimdevices.com/mailman/listinfo/radio
Re: [SlimDevices: Radio] Step forward in iplayer listen again content
I think the only way for BBC to enable chaptering would be to split the program into lots of small files which is not practical. With WMA and possibly AAC, I think the player can jump to an estimated timepoint in the stream just like the web based iPlayer interface.. -- bpa bpa's Profile: http://forums.slimdevices.com/member.php?userid=1806 View this thread: http://forums.slimdevices.com/showthread.php?t=77954 ___ Radio mailing list Radio@lists.slimdevices.com http://lists.slimdevices.com/mailman/listinfo/radio
Re: [SlimDevices: Radio] Step forward in iplayer listen again content
Is the question whether fwd/rew could be made better for long programmes? The issue is this is a standard player feature rather than anything specfic to iplayer - though I think its worth raising as a feature to be fixed in the player firmware. I think the main issue is how long it takes to forward through a long programme? If there was some acceleration would this help? -- Triode Triode's Profile: http://forums.slimdevices.com/member.php?userid=17 View this thread: http://forums.slimdevices.com/showthread.php?t=77954 ___ Radio mailing list Radio@lists.slimdevices.com http://lists.slimdevices.com/mailman/listinfo/radio
[SlimDevices: Radio] Step forward in iplayer listen again content
Hi, I know it is possible to fast forward through a listen again playback to a desired location but is it possible to step forward in larger chunks? Trouble I have found is that sometimes if you get the forwarding wrong the content starts again from the begining meaning you have to start again. I guess this is a BBC iplayer issue not the radio but does anyone know if there are plans to enable this?
