At first i would like to have a mobile unit and the radio is a little bit cheaper. I think i will get more units later! For the beginning (and testing) the headphone-out will work. I got lucky... I got a brand new Squeezebox Classic on eBay for UNDER $200 after shipping! Typically even the slightly used ones had been going for a bit over $210 so I got a great deal. Airport express with iPod touch remote app would be good, if all that is needed is to play itunes music and a few internet radio streams, although I don't think it covers everything the OP wants, specifically Pandora. The other big drawback to Airport express IMO, is that you can't use multiple airport expresses to play independent streams in different locations from the same library. I know this wasn't a requirement that the original poster mentioned, but it's important to note. mrMuppet;494904 Wrote: > I had the same idea ... SB Radio with line-out via headset output. I don't believe that the headphone output from the SB radio can be switched to line-out, like the boom can. Although that would be nice, it isn't strictly necessary, and sound quality would be quite good, if plugged into an aux/in on a receiver, or pair of powered speakers, so long as the volume level at the radio is set at an appropriate level and left there. -- gdpeck gdpeck's Profile: http://forums.slimdevices.com/member.php?userid=4686 View this thread: http://forums.slimdevices.com/showthread.php?t=72423 ___ Radio mailing list Radio@lists.slimdevices.com http://lists.slimdevices.com/mailman/listinfo/radio

Re: [SlimDevices: Radio] Using the SB Radio as a replacement for the SB Receiver
You can use the Squeezebox Radio to connect to a stereo, you just need the right cable to get you RCA out from the headphone jack. The sound quality will be fine. It is the cheapest option at the moment at < $180, so unless you could find a receiver or classic on ebay it seems like a good way to go. -- tass tass's Profile: http://forums.slimdevices.com/member.php?userid=1231 View this thread: http://forums.slimdevices.com/showthread.php?t=72423 ___ Radio mailing list Radio@lists.slimdevices.com http://lists.slimdevices.com/mailman/listinfo/radio

Unless there are new features I haven't found yet, iPeng doesn't "Play" Music, it controls Squeezebox Players. It sounds like she needs a Receiver, SB3, or Touch to send the music to a stereo. If no stereo and needs a unit that can actually produce sound, then a Squeezebox Boom or SB Radio. Why would anybody buy an SB Radio to run the headphone out into a stereo when it can play music on its own? [SlimDevices: Radio] Using the SB Radio as a replacement for the SB Receiver
Hi there, I was going to set my parents up with a Squeezebox Receiver for christmas, as my mom is getting an iPod Touch, and I was going to set her up with iPeng to play all of her music across the house (I have it and love that solution). However, it seems as though the receiver can no longer be found online. So I'm considering just getting a SB Radio. Only thing is that the connection will have to be a 3.5mm to red/white converter cable for the sound, and I want to make sure that will sound okay - doesn't need to be audiophile quality, but I still want it to be good. I appreciate the feedback. Thanks! -- hungarianhc 'Howto: Building a squeezebox server for under $100!'
