[RBASE-L] - RE: expanding note field

Subject: [RBASE-L] - expanding note field

I am using a DBmemo on a field. Here is what I want to do.
The DBmemo is in a scrolling region.
I want to have the field a certain size but if the user adds more information
in the field, rather than hiding the info in the previous lines, I want the
memo to expand beyond the region so the user can see all they have entered.

SO do I need to have a small form just for that field? Or can I create a note
form on the fly so to speak? I want the notes to be a part of the existing
table not a separate table with just notes.

Background: I have a table that stores a telephone number as a text value.

Challenge: How do display the telephone number in a form formatted as
555-698-4567 (or something close)?

I’ve used the input format mask as shown below.

I’ve tried the format mask (000) 000_;1;_ in a DB Edit ‘Input Format Mask’
field – no joy.

And I’ve tried !\(999\)\ 000\-;0; - again – no joy.

And is there a way to format the number is an ‘Enhanced BD Grid Properties’
column field?

Then of course the question that begs to be asked is; should I change the table
data to reflect the output I need?

If so, what is the best way to accomplish this?

RMD file for a specific table, plus you have a file with your views just in

Ever since version 7.0, you no longer need to recreate views when you add
columns. You can now create a view like this:
   as select t1.*, t2.* from table1 t1, table2 t2 where .

and it doesn't matter if you add columns.

But if you want to search views for existence of columns or tables, I do:
browse all from sys_views where #2 contains 'whatever' or #3 contains 'whatever'

You then have to look up the view name in the sys_tables table

Re: [RBASE-L] - Telephone Number Stored as Text Value in a Table

2019-03-25 Thread 'Karen Tellef' via RBASE-L
Rather than using format masks in the field property itself, I've switched to
using the menu option Tables / Display Format.  Have you tried that?

RE: [RBASE-L] - Scrolling Regions

2019-03-25 Thread Tony IJntema
John,

Take a look at the table relations in the form.

I think the setting of Many to Many is the one you have to choose to achiev
the result you want

Onderwerp: [RBASE-L] - Scrolling Regions

Hi,

I have a form with three scrolling regions and three tables - master and two
slaves. There are common columns which link the data, which represents data in
three tables, SECTIONS, SUB_SECTIONS & SUB_SUB_SECTIONS.

While when I scroll through the SECTIONS region only the rows for the matching
SUB_SECTION & SUB_SUB_SECTION are displayed. However when I scroll through the
SUB_SECTION region, all of the rows that match the SECTION number appear in the
SUB_SUB_SECTION region. However all I want to appear are the rows that match
the SECTION NUMBER and the SUB_SECTION NUMBER. I thought that this used to
happen, but maybe my memory has failed in regard to that.

The attached screenshot hopefully shows what is happening. The cursor is on a
row with a subsectn no of 6, for which there are no rows in the SUB_SUB_SECTION
table, however rows from that table are displayed.

Any suggestions as to what should happen and what I have wrong would be much
appreciated. (I am using X.5 10.5.1.30214.)

Thank you.

Regards

John Docherty
