[RBW] Tom Ritchey Tandem

2012-06-01 Thread Brian Campbell
I am not sure if this is on topic but I will give it a whirl. A while back
there were some photos on the Riv site showing a bare Ritchey built tandem
stripped and on it way to getting painted. I can't find those pictures
anywhere in the archive. Did that actually happen or did I dream it?

Anyway, a couple of days ago an add popped up on a local craigslist listing
for tandem for sale. It had one bad picture and it mentioned it was a
Ritchey. I went & bought it and it is an absoltely stunning example of
Ritchey's fillet(?sp) skills. I am guessing it to be about 1980. Would
anyone here know much about it? Here are some pictures.

Re: [RBW] Re: front derailleur cage tweaking

2012-06-01 Thread Leslie
And, Steve was the winner! Definitely one of those, why didn't I think of
that, moments...

I picked up a 2.5mm BB spacer, pulled the crank, pulled the BB out, dropped the
spacer on, BB back in, crank back on, and tweaked the cable tension, dialed the
L and the H screws a tad...

Beautiful! I can now shift from to the granny w/ no rubbing, and to the big
ring, w/o it continuing on and off onto the crank arm... Excellent suggestion!

Thanks!!!

+ + + +

Now, while dealing with this, I've had an 'incident' that irked me a bit. Not
an incident, per se, but, one of those not what you expected LBS instances

Once I read Steve's suggestion Saturday night, I was eager to get to the LBS to
grab a spacer to give this idea a whirl. Well, the LBS in town was closed
Sunday, and also on Monday for the holiday. So, Tuesday after work, I popped
in to get a spacer.

Now, in my town, there is one bike shop. Bristol has two (one is MSL); Johnson
City has two; then there's two others that i like, each in a small town between
the bigger towns. But, I try to start local instead of driving further than
need be, so I start in town. The guy who owns it is nice enough, actually
opened the shop close to 40 years ago. Mostly a Trek/Cannondale shop,
assembles new bikes and rolls them out the door, typical non-Rivish
accessories, and do some repairs/tune-ups, etc. He has a few folks who work
there part time as mechanics, one happens to be an old friend from college, but
on this particular day, I was talking w/ another mechanic. He and I had had
small talk before, but, this was the first time I was in *need* of a very
particular something, and working w/ him specifically. He was in the middle of
dialing in some new C'dale road bike, a 2x10 compact double w/ 700c-23 tires.
I tried to asked for what I wanted, and got shot down: a triple is old, should
go w/ a 2x10 set-up, I am using an old crank that I should junk, a square-taper
BB is antiquated, my derailleur must be completely wrong if I'm having
troubles, etc. I thought, I must've misspoke, and tried to re-explain, and he
pretty much said, look, I told you a spacer is just wrong, you just want me to
tell you you're right when you're not, you need to get some new parts and do it
right

I'm using a new Sugino crank, a new SKF BB, a Shimano LX triple derailleur,
it's not like any of it was old or junk; but he kept saying a Sugino was old,
that it became obsolete 20 years ago, and I shouldn't be trying to reuse such
old parts Yet he said I should pitch my triple and go w/ a compact double,
and a new cassette to go with Gack!!!

I tried to not argue, just kinda acted reflective, mulling it over, then slid
on out the door, and had to drive to the next town over to its LBS. Nice guy
there, he came over to see what I needed, I explained to him what I was trying
to solve, what I needed; a minute later, he came back with a couple of spacers
for me.

Was tied up most of the week, but finally had time tonight to put it on, and
prove that it was the right solution. So

Moral of the story: Although there's an LBS here in town and I think the
owner's a nice guy, I'm probably going to jump in the car and drive 30 minutes
to go to the next town, when I need something quickly from an LBS that I don't
want to wait on to get shipped to me... It's a shame, really, but, when faced
with such, well...

Anywho...

[RBW] Great Western Bicyle Rally 2012

2012-06-01 Thread jimD
I've put a few photos up on Flickr from last weekend's riding:

http://www.flickr.com/photos/rasterdogs/

GWBR has been held in Paso Robles for some 40 + years.
It is a great event, very family oriented. The organization gives out packets
of route sheets and folks pick
and choose where, when and what to ride. Most of the folks attending, camp at
the fairgrounds, some have motorhomes,
some stay in motels.

The terrain is excellent. There are many secondary roads winding among wineries
and not much traffic.
It's great fun to watch the smaller kids zooming around the fairgrounds from
pretty much dawn to dusk.
If one wants to 'just ride' the Great Western Bicycle Rally is about that
approach to bicycling.

Re: [RBW] FS-Rivendell Road Standard FF/HS

2012-06-01 Thread Bruce Herbitter
Frank:

The serial # will tell you the month (A = Jan and etc) and year of
manufacture (95 or 96 in the #) The rest of the serial is which position in
the production sequence that month it was and the initials of the builder.

I went the repaint route (at Airglow in GA) on mine and a 650B convert
(takes 38 mm Pari-Motos no problem) and have been very happy with it. It's
a very snappy ride and quick handling for a Riv. Comfort too with a slack
seat tube and nice tube set.

Bruce

Hope someone gets it and likes it and you get the bike you prefer.

Looking forward to this. Haven't done a really serious climb with the
Hillborne loaded up. Should be a good test first thing in the morning.

2012-06-01 Thread Mojo
Great Ryan, I will look for you there. It should be easy to find the guy
with the fat-tired, fendered Kogswell. :)

Thanks everyone for your advice. The JB's seem like a great idea.
I do like the Road standard's handling and its cockpit (44cm Noodles vs
46cm on the Legolas) a bit more.
So I am biased towards that bike.
Either bike will be fun.
I am looking forward to it.

[RBW] Re: Paul Neo Retro Brakes - and Shimano Levers?

2012-06-01 Thread Thomas Lynn Skean
No experience with Paul canti levers or brakes. But I can tell you that Paul
Love Levers are just plain better than the cheap Shimano levers I use on one of
my cockpits (the brakes are Paul Motolites in both cases).

The Love Levers are significantly stiffer and feel more directly connected to
the braking. The Shimanos feel fine. But the Paul's improve the braking
feedback. They aren't purely for show.

Thomas Lynn Skean

RE: [RBW] Paul Neo Retro Brakes - and Shimano Levers?

2012-06-01 Thread Marc Schwartz
I have not found a lever that will NOT work well with the paul cantis. Unless
you're a logo-matcher, purchasing the Paul Canti Levers is not necessary. They
are pretty, however.

Subject: [RBW] Paul Neo Retro Brakes - and Shimano Levers?

So I am building up my new Hunq, and one of the neo-retro brakes got damaged in
shipping, which has bought me some time to ponder picking up some of the paul
canti lever levers.

Just wondering if I *need* the Paul levers to use the shimano levers. I have
the regular silver mountain bikey levers from Riv, was planning on using those
w/ the Paul brakes. Now that I see how powerful the paul brakes are (they are
BEEFY) I wonder if the little blurb on the paul site about using the canti
levers w/ the neo retros is the move.

So I am really wondering - for those of you with paul neo retros - what do you
think? Need the paul levers? Okay with shimanos? What do you guys think?

Re: [RBW] Paul Neo Retro Brakes - and Shimano Levers?

2012-06-01 Thread René Sterental
I have Paul's Neo-retrospect and Touring brakes on both Atlantis and
Hunqapillar and didn't like the Paul canti levers when I tried them. I much
prefer them with the Shimano BL-R770 brake levers ergonomically. These feel
much better in my hands.

Still, if you'd like to try the Paul ones, I can sell you mine (barely
used-look like new) for a good price.

[RBW] Re: Grant on "Why I ride my bike"

2012-06-01 Thread opa...@gmail.com
Well, it wasn't on that particular page, but Grant did kinda say just that
recently:

"Wear the clothes that you're going to wear at work,"..."Don't dress up
like an American Bike Geek just to ride a bicycle to work."

http://www.npr.org/blogs/thetwo-way/2012/05/18/152945439/bike-to-work-day-your-photos-and-riding-advice-from-grant-petersen

And while I don't wear lycra or spandex, it would be tough to ride to work
in Mississippi in a suit, khakis or jeans.

Cheers (and I know what you meant).

Thanks, but no thanks -- they're not carbon fiber.

I meant the Boulder, of course. FWIW, the woman to whom I sold the
Herse, a long distance rider from MD, loves it -- I think it finally
found a rest from its peregrinations. Odd how I disliked the Kogswell
but liked the fit and feel of the Herse -- just not the sort of bike I
use regularly.

I think I've found a buyer for the trike ...

Are you asking if Paul's canti levers are better then shimano canti levers? I
feel the Paul's are nicer finished but both work fine.

I have sun tour canti xc levers now and they work great.

[RBW] Mid-West Riv Ride - Overnight Parking

2012-06-01 Thread John Blish
This information is for a limited audience but I have no way to address
them directly without going through this list. Yes, I could wait and tell
you tomorrow morning but for some, including me, having this information
before you leave can be a comfort.

I called the City of Red Wing and found out where it will be safe (no
ticket, no tow) to leave a vehicle overnight (Saturday night) while we ride:

1. Target lot. This is fine but you need to check in with Target manager,
let her know your vehicle and plate # and when you will return. The PD
recommends this because Target lot has security cameras. Target phone is
651 388 7704. Best to call today since they will just be opening tomorrow
about the time we plan to meet.

2. Bay Point Park. This is the same place we are going to meet at 8 - 9
a.m. on Saturday and it is the place from which we will start. The park
closes at 10 p.m. to vehicles but not to pedestrians. Capt. Darryl
Glander, who is a bike rider himself, says it is OK to leave a vehicle at
this location overnight and that there is no history of vandalism or theft
of or from vehicles in this area. This will be my choice since it is just
one night and it is to convenient to where we meet.

I was very impressed with the help from Red Wing PD. - could not have been
nicer.

Best wishes. See you tomorrow. Californians and East Coasters - eat your
hearts out thinking about us out here riding in this beautiful relatively
unspoiled area.

Just Ride

John

[RBW] Paul Neo Retro Brakes - and Shimano Levers?

2012-06-01 Thread Zack
So I am building up my new Hunq, and one of the neo-retro brakes got
damaged in shipping, which has bought me some time to ponder picking up
some of the paul canti lever levers.

Just wondering if I *need* the Paul levers to use the shimano levers. I
have the regular silver mountain bikey levers from Riv, was planning on
using those w/ the Paul brakes. Now that I see how powerful the paul
brakes are (they are BEEFY) I wonder if the little blurb on the paul site
about using the canti levers w/ the neo retros is the move.

So I am really wondering - for those of you with paul neo retros - what do
you think? Need the paul levers? Okay with shimanos? What do you guys
think?

I'm writing from a library in the desert, as I ride from Mexico to
Canada on the ACA Sierra Cascades route. You bet I use a Camelbak.
I'm not wild about weight on my back, but I became a convert when I
rode with a Camelbak in the heat of Denver summer last year. It was
hot, it was dry, and when I took a drink I got cld water. I also
like being able to drink easily on long climbs, of which there are
plenty on the Sierra Cascades route. The Sierra and the Cascades are
mountain ranges, as you may know but apparently a couple of people
who signed up for this ride did not.

2012-06-01 Thread Tim McNamara
Glad it was fun, wished I could have been there but various things have come up
to eat my available time on Thursday, Friday and indeed most of this weekend-
despite having put the Midwest Riv Rally on the family calendar months ago-
meaning I won't manage to be there for any of it. The universe does not tend
to respect that plans we make... How's the saying go- "Life is what happens to
you while you're busy making other plans."

Thanks to Jim for making this all happen.

Everybody have fun! It should be a stunningly gorgeous weekend for riding
around Lake Pepin. I'll have to find a way to sneak out for a few short rides.

[RBW] FS-Rivendell Road Standard FF/HS

2012-06-01 Thread frank_a
Hi All,
For sale:
59.5 Rivendell Road Standard, frame, fork and headset.
This is one of the early Waterford builds with the bi-plane fork, '95 or
'96. I have owned it for a bit over 5 years. Structurally/functionally it
is fine but the original paint will need attention of some sort, depending
on what you value. From the time I got it there were some rough spots
(shown in the photos). I was going to send the frame to JB for a repaint so
I made the choice to see what was going on underneath those areas. The
paint in the affected areas flaked off after a bit of prodding with a
needle. It's got knicks and stuff you'd expect to see on a frame of it's
age but no dents. So hit it with some primer and ride or go for a full
repaint.
It's a great bike but I've come across a double Joe, Long Low that is a
better fit and takes a bigger tire so this one will go.
550.00 plus shipping.
Have a look at all the pictures linked and feel free to ask questions.

http://www.flickr.com/photos/8531240@N06/sets/72157629942070062/

Thanks,
 - Frank

+1 to all of what Liesl and Eric said. This could not have been better -
weather, food, Riv-fans and owners, bikes, etc. Grant and his daughter
both arrived by bike (not a tandem), by the way. Thanks Jim T and everyone
at HC and everyone who attended.

If you are at a location where Grant is scheduled to appear in the future
you owe it to yourself to go. For me, meeting Grant in person put a
perfect cap on everything I have ever known about Bridgestone and Rivendell
and the integrity and honesty of those organizations because of his
leadership. His whole way of running the company is so different from the
marketing, hype and unnecessary products and "improvements" by other
companies that it makes Rivendell seem like it is from another planet. A
very good planet, indeed. Planet Rivendell.

Just Ride.

take on the Sat/Sun ride. It will be the LHT with 700 x 35 Paselas.

Re: [RBW] Re: cameras and biking

2012-06-01 Thread René Sterental
I now carry my Fuji X100. With its 35mm equivalent prime and superb image
quality, it is the perfect package for me. My other alternative is my PEN
E-P3 which I still prefer to use with some of its wonderful prime lenses,
and on either a Boxy Rando bag or Riv's small Sackville on the front I can
still carry with 2-3 lenses. Been using the X100 lately more though.

Will need to explore the padding option to carry my D700 in the front,
although I am fine tuning an option to carry a full DSLR configuration on
the back presuming that my primary intent on those rides is the photography
and not the ride. Am still looking for an optimal way to bring a tripod
along.

You missed my SimpleOne! Oh, and the Grant designed Soma that's for
sale at the shop. Otherwise, it's complete from what I remember.
There were two customs at different times. Dave Siskind had to leave
early.

Was great to finally meet Grant in person. With all the folks, food,
and drink it was a memorable day. Fun to meet some of the "pixel
pals" in real life. And to catch up with some of my other friends
that I hadn't seen in a while.

A huge thanks to everyone involved.

And the fun continues tomorrow with the Midwest Rivendell Rally in
starting in Red Wing, MN. Still don't have the camping gear packed.

Oh, and Liesl, that's a way cool turtle spotting. Am jealous.

Re: [RBW] Re: Advice on Camelbacks

2012-06-01 Thread PATRICK MOORE
Thanks for all the feedback on Camelbacks; overall, I'd guess about
4/3 against. But the "pro" reasons, even for road biking, intrigue me
enough that I'd like to try one, but I will wait until I can get one
for pennies on the dollar, as at a swap or remainder table (must check
REI, Performance) or from my brother. I generally dislike things on my
back but the ice suggestion might even be a benefit in hot weather.

Meanwhile, I'll dig up the forgotten-at-home Minoura QR clamp (neat
thing that allows you to clamp a cage to a frame tube or to the bar --
the mount proper swivels). Either that, or I need to find a
larger-than-Banana bag for the rear.

I know my Fargo has six, yea six! cage mounts, but alas the two best
ones on dt and st are prevented by the triangular frame bag (thanks,
Dan) that replaces the kit Banana Bag (to provide a space for rear
blinkies) and the bar bag (that takes up space that I mean eventually
for interrupter levers). But that leaves four, two on the fork, one
fitting a small bottle at the apex of the frame diamond, and the
sub-dt one.

I don't regret not having fender mounts applied to the Joe, but I do
regret not having those extra, dt cage mounts added.

[RBW] Re: Advice on Camelbacks

2012-06-01 Thread Shifty
Hi Patrick,

I have a lot of history with Camelbacks from more more dedicated mountain
bike days. I think they're critical for this type of riding 'cause on most
technical rides you can afford to take your eyes off the trail to reach
your water bottle. Over time however, I've come to despise the extra weight
on my back and more often carry a bottle on mountain bike rides and simply
pull over to drink.

I know you have a Fargo with FREAKING 6 WATER BOTTLE MOUNTS and highly
suggest adding another mount. And my Fargo plan is on pause for the summer
as I realize the benefits of building one from ground up like you with
parts that I actually WANT.

Camelback Pros: 1. Best choice for technical mountain bike rides.

Camelback cons: 1. Easily tempted to carry more water/weight than you may
need. 2. It's a 10 minute ordeal to pull out, place drying hanger inside,
hang bladder, reassemble and put away. 3. Eventually a leak WILL happen
and your back will be the sponge.

Peace from Shifty (Sean)

[RBW] Re: rene herse crank

2012-06-01 Thread Corwin Booth
I've been riding the Herse cranks for a few months now, and really like
them... I went with a 48/30. My main reason for getting them was the desire
for a compact double with a smaller-than-34 (I ride in the Berkeley Hills a
lot... love my 30t!). Shifting up for the 18-tooth jump works nicely.

I do have one issue. In order to make the shift onto the big chainring, the
derailleur cage is pushed out far enough and the Q is low enough that the
crank arm rubs the cage as I pedal. At the moment, I just back the cage off
a bit after I shift up (friction shifting). I wrote Jan about it, and he
pointed out that the Campy "Mirage FB" front derailleur is pretty wide, and
that, together with the 18t jump, might be the cause. I know a lot of folks
here use that derailleur, so I thought I'd point out the problem.

On that note, anybody got a good suggestion for a different front
derailleur?

[RBW] Rivendell frame for sale.

2012-06-01 Thread art molitor
My 64 cm Rivendell custom frame and fork is offered once again for sale at a
reduced price. This a road model designed by Grant Peterson of conventional
tubing. The build is by Joe Starck and the paint by Joe Bell. It was used
lightly and is in near new condition. It is a superb example of the frame
builder's art and ready to be built up . The colors are dark green with creme
accents. My name is painted on the top tube hence the price is $975.00
shipped to lower 48. Photos and questions from :artmoli...@yahoo.com

RE: [RBW] Re: rene herse crank

2012-06-01 Thread Mark Chandler

My favorite "bargain" cranks are Shimano's FC-R4550. At one point, I had three
of them in service, but I'm down to just two sets (I sold one of the bikes).
The 4550s are non-series components, and can be purchased quite cheaply online.
The inner (34t) chainring has proved to be quite durable, especially compared
to the stock rings found on the Sugino XD cranks. In fact, Shimano specs the
same inner ring on the R600 and R700 cranksets (which sell for more than the
R4550).
Would it be more cost-effective to "upgrade" to an Ultegra crank? Probably
not. I'd rather take the money saved on the cranks and spend it on chains, and
replace those at the appropriate interval to increase the other drivetrain
components' lifespan.

Subject: [RBW] Re: rene herse crank

With all due respect, Jan, that is a highly dubious assertion that 105 cranks
will cost less per mile than Ultegra cranks. The MSRP difference in the crank
is $100 ($360 for Ultegra and $260 for 105), If you assume the chainrings to be
the primary wear item, you could buy the 105 crank and spend the extra $100 on
some new (supposedly more durable) Ultegra rings to use when the 105 rings wear
out. Now we're at the same price, and we've got two sets of chainrings for the
less costly crank. That to me sounds like the 105 crank will give more miles
for the same dollars. Of course, there's the probability that the cranks
themselves could break, but that probability is slim with either model. How to
compare two very small probabilities and translate it usefully to dollars/mile?

That an old Peugeot was costly to maintain is not too surprising. Those things
are money pits. Would an equivalently priced, say, Miyata with Sun Tour parts,
of the same vintage, have been less costly to maintain? I think yes, all else
being equal, and barring crashes, and other mishaps. I can point at numerous
Schwinn Varsities and similar machines that have been abused in many ways by
many people for 40 years, and they're still on the road. Arguably, the Varsity
is cheap for other reasons, but durability isn't one of them.

Anyway, I suspect the dollars to durability correlation to be a weak
correlation at best, and impossible to discern in the real world. This is the
kind of overly simplistic thing you read in an article in Bicycling that
attempts to give first-timers some basic knowledge to buy a first road bike.
But even Bicycling doesn't have the audacity to make a definitive claim in
terms of dollars per mile.

I agree that a crummy bike will be less enjoyable and will need repairs, but
105 parts are far from crummy.

I think a lot depends on how much you ride. 105 parts will be more

expensive than Ultegra in the long run, if you ride more than 2000

miles a year. Quality components offer better durability and/or

improved performance - for example, a high-end crank with narrower

tread (Q factor) and harder-wearing chainrings will be more enjoyable

and not much more expensive in the long-run than a cheap Sugino crank

with soft chainrings.

I learned this early-on. My mid-range Peugeot 10-speed ended up being

the most expensive bike I ever owned, per mile. Once I started riding

seriously, it needed repairs and replacements almost weekly. When I

switched to a custom frame with Campagnolo components, which cost

three times as much to buy, my per-mile cost went way down. At the

same time, my enjoyment of cycling went way up. It can be a win-win

situation, once you get over the sticker shock.

Re: [RBW] Which tires, which bike for Ride the Rockies?

2012-06-01 Thread Ryan Watson
I'll be there! I've done RTR almost every year since 1993.
I've not ridden the dirt section in question, but the other dirt roads they've
used in the past have actually been smoother than most of the pavement. They
spray some kind of chemical binder on the road ahead of time.
Colorado pavement, especially in the mountains, is pretty crappy. I wouldn't
use anything narrower than 32mm myself.
Having said that, 90+% of the riders use skinny 23mm tires and seem to enjoy
themselves. You do see lots of thick bar tape, jelly filled gloves and those
anti-vibration bar plugs!
On one particularly rough section I once picked up almost a dozen of those
plugs that had rattled loose and fallen on the road.
I'll be on my 650B Kogswell with 38-40mm tires, probably Trimlines. Fenders too.
I'll be surprised if there are more than 10 fendered bikes there. I've seen
many totally rain-free years, but last year, it rained like hell on the last
day. You never know. Most likely, rain will come in the form of the occasional
brief, but intense afternoon thunderstorm.
Also, a bell is worth it's weight in gold when sharing the road with 2000 other
riders.

"Lobo" model here. Actually don't use the bladder much, opting to put
in an extra water bottle and more food instead.

Right now the bladder is in the freezer and if I use it again it will
get a squirt of lemon juice to cover up the beach ball taste.

On centuries where I'm not likely to come across a convenience store,
I'll take along the large saddle-mounted Baggins and stick the bladder
in there. On breaks you can drink from the hose and refill your caged
water bottles from there.

Ride the Rockies starts weekend next. Is anyone from this group going to be
there?

So I am between two bikes, a standard Rivendell road and a Legolas.
The Legolas has longboard fenders on it, so the thought is I will take the
road if the weather forecast is dry, the Legolas if wet.
I like the idea of having fenders for a 6 day ride though. Both bikes weigh
around 25lbs with empty saddlebag, empty water bottles, pump, repair kit,
bell, small lights.

Now tires. This is 440 miles with about 25 miles of dirt. One 15
mile stretch of dirt is towards the end of the longest day at 92 miles. The
dirt roads are described as smooth. I have three sets of tires: Jack Brown
Greens, Rolly Polys, Schwalbe Ultremo ZX (28mm). If the Legolas goes
it will definitely have the Jack Browns. The Riv road can take any of these
tires without fenders.

Thoughts? Thanks!

Steve - thanks for reminding me of the LX5. Had completely forgotten
about it. Have an LX3. While I love the image quality, hate the
easily moved dial. Lost about 20 percent of my photos while in
Washgton DC in 2008 and in San Diego in 2009 because of the wrong
settings. User error, but it still bothers me.

Most of the time I've been using either a Ricoh GRDIII or lately, a
Fuji point and shoot. Sort of like restricting myself to a prime
lens, but frankly think the 28mm on the Ricoh is too wide for outside
on the bike. The Fuji is more than acceptable for my uses and it has
excellent low light capabilities.

Did see a couple of nice options last night at a get together at
Hiawatha Cyclery for Grant's book tour. Something more to think
about.

[RBW] FS: 68cm Atlantis Frame/Fork/HS

2012-06-01 Thread Shaun Meehan
Hi all,

Please excuse me for cross-posting. I've decided to sell my 68cm Atlantis
frameset. I purchased it in 2007 and it's a Toyo built unit with the
rounded lugs. It's been well used but I had it repainted by a local frame
builder, Chris Kvale, two years ago. I've experienced multiple instances of
chainsuck since the repaint during some muddy gravel rides, so there's some
damage to the drive-side chainstay as a result, including a small dent. I
repainted the area myself using touch-up paint that Chris provided but it
needs to be touched up again. My intent was to have Chris touch it up
before I sold it but he can't get to it until fall on account of his
workload, so I'm selling it as is. Functionally it's 100%.

It's a nice burnt orange color with sort of a khaki tan on the headtube,
lug windows, etc. It's also got the fancy headbadge that Riv offers on it.
Aside from the chainstay damage, it's in really nice shape. There are other
nicks and scratches but they're pretty minor. There's also a pinch mark in
the paint from the front derailleur clamp. It's got the stock Ultegra
headset. Of course, tall folks know that Riv doesn't offer the 68cm
Atlantis anymore. So this is a chance for someone to get their hands on
one.

I've posted some pictures here: http://www.flickr.com/photos/shaun_meehan/

I'm asking $1,400. Feel free to make me an offer if you think that's
unreasonable. Please contact me off-list with questions if you're
interested.

Thanks,
Shaun Meehan
