[RBW] Re: Small Items to add to a RBW Order.

2015-08-26 Thread Benz, Sunnyvale, CA
I can't believe no one has mentioned the Einstein patch kit. Every single
component of that kit (other than the wipe and quick patch, neither of
which I've tried) is top notch. Compared to the industry "Gold Standard"
REMA kit, the sandpaper resists wadding up, the glue consistency makes for
easier application (plus it's just as efficacious), and the patches...they
are as flat as pancakes so you can barely feel the repair. Best patch kit
ever!

Some awesome suggestions guys thank you!! I had missed the whole slew of
narrower Kenda 26ers... I ran an ~2" 700c small block eight on my Atlantis
briefly and liked it.

To be honest the Ritchey Speedmax look like they might be perfect for the price
point. I also kind of like the fact that Ritchey Tom Slick's were the original
equipment for the XO3 as well.

The list rarely fails, thanks again!!

It sure is nice when I ride it though. Really light, great climbing,
comfortable. Considering a B conversion on it, but seems like it just makes
sense to buy a purpose built B bike from the get go. But even then, not
sure how much I would ride it.

[RBW] OT- Looking for housing in Seattle

2015-08-26 Thread SJB
In the next few weeks my son's string quartet will be relocating to
Seattle. Would anyone have a line on some affordable housing in the Seattle
area?
My son and a roommate, (the 2nd violinist,) are looking for a two bedroom
place. They are still struggling musicians, so value is a priority.

If you have a place you'd like to rent to two responsible young musicians,
or know someone who does, please let me know and I'll put in touch with my
son.

[RBW] black cork grips - to shellack or not

2015-08-26 Thread drew
purchased some black "cork" grips, but im thinking they are more likely
black foam with flecks of cork. while i was not excited about the lack of
actual cork, i do like the way they look. from the perspective of
enhancing their lifespan and diminishing their upkeep...Shellack them? do
not shellack them? do something else to them? do nothing?

[RBW] Re: 26 x 1.8-1.95" knobby recommendation

2015-08-26 Thread 'jinxed' via RBW Owners Bunch
I'm not sure they'd fit at 2.2, but the Maxxis Holy Roller has been
fantastic on the Atlantis for on/off road. It does have a round profile
though without knobs sticking off the sides so it may squeak by.

However, for a great all round tire that is super civil on the pavement I
can't say enough about the Continental Town & Country. Cheap and easy to
find.

Also, if you want a bit more knob and lighter weight, the Kenda Klimax Lite
K is a folder with small aggressive knobs at 26x1.9 and I know they'll fit
an X0-3.

[RBW] FS/FT: Nitto "11cm" / 26.0 stem for your "10cm"

2015-08-26 Thread Joe Bunik
Hi gang

I have a nice Nitto quill stem (not sure what name this variety is),
26.0mm bar clamp diameter. "11cm" length, 19.5cm quill length. The
problem is, this style of Nitto stem "runs long" in that the *actual*
c-to-c of the extension approaches more ~120mm; I want a
close-to-actual 11 extension! Also - I need a Nitto that uses the same
"triangular nut" on the clamp... all for the sake of a decaleur!

This stem is used but looks almost like new. There is some minor
insertion wear on the bottom of the quill, but otherwise nice. I am
also willing to sell, let's call it $60 shipped.

[RBW] Berthoud GB2886 Handlebar Bag and Decaleur for Sale

2015-08-26 Thread 'Jim Cloud' via RBW Owners Bunch

For Sale: Berthoud GB2886 black handlebar bag with Velo Orange Decaleur. This
handlebar bag is the deluxe model with leather strap closures and an
interior pocket for identification, etc. It is largest one that Berthoud
produces and should be used with a decaleur (included).. See the Berthoud
website for dimensions -
http://www.gillesberthoud.fr/anglais/fiche_detaillee/fiche.php?refArticle=321GB2886/N

This handlebar bag is in virtually new condition with very little usage and
no staining from rain or deterioration by sun exposure. I have found that
my cycling baggage needs are satisfied by a saddlebag, and really don’t use
a handlebar bag. Photos of the bag, including the decaleur and its
mounting on my bicycle are here –

https://www.flickr.com/photos/37964304@N05/albums/72157656508743292

The handlebar bag includes the accessory shoulder strap for carrying off
the bike. This is a very nice handlebar bag which Jan Heine rightly calls
the standard for this type of bag. Sale is by PayPal only for $285.00
which includes shipment (no international sales).

Please contact me off list.

glad, because otherwise the left pedal would have been in the next county.

But Peter's analysis of ISO taper is sensible, and if it's asking for 118mm
in an asymmetric spindle, you'll certainly need that much on a symmetric
BB.
