Re: [RBW] Re: Wire crimper in bay area for b secula plus light

2016-10-09 Thread David Stein
Thanks Jon. I have that cable cutter as well. I think as Peter White called
out the spade connector on the B lights are super small and need
something that can crimp at 2.8mm which it doesn't seem most common
crimpers can do that small. And the crimper Peter sells is $60 which is a
lot to pay for a one time use function. Sounds like the backup might be to
use needle nose pliers and hope for the best.

Would love to ride next weekend but i'll be fresh off the plane from tokyo
and not going to be able to make it out unfortunately. Sounds like a fun
ride and something we should do again ;)

[RBW] Re: Nitto vs Pletscher rear racks internal debate...

2016-10-09 Thread René Sterental
The large Nitto rack is definitely a no, it sits too far back. The medium
one sits much closer, and the new ines don't have a tombstone if I'm not
mistaken. I have one on order arriving tomorrow. The regular medium I had
on the Betty will go on sale.

I definitely like the elegance of the Nitto better, but tomorrow I'll
decide.

Thanks for the photos.

[RBW] Re: Wire crimper in bay area for b secula plus light

Dave,

I've got a set of these that I use for cutting and crimping cables and
caps.

https://www.rei.com/product/692846/park-tool-pro-cablehousing-cutter?CAWELAID=12021789885281=pla=15877513840=pla-183697505080_mmc=PLA_Google|404_8992|6928460010|none|f6bcbd42-8f29-4ea3-b534-c0e8f678e4a3|pla-183697505080=cm_mmc:PLA_Google_LIA|404_8992|6928460010|none|f6bcbd42-8f29-4ea3-b534-c0e8f678e4a3|pla-183697505080=CP_LvI_9zs8CFQ90fgodeqUJvw

Not sure how to get them to you. You riding next weekend? We're planning
to ride to the Point Reyes Lighthouse
(https://groups.google.com/forum/#!topic/bay-area-rivendell-riders/C3xybyBb0rs)

Alternatively, I also have a set of these for general household electrical
issues
http://www.homedepot.com/p/8-in-Wire-Stripper-and-Cutter-and-Crimper-84-199/203860092

For $10, it may be just easier to grab them at Home Depot or any hardware.
(Plus, they'll do a better job when you need to strip another set of
speaker wires!)

[RBW] New thread - Centerpull brakes on the Cheviot

2016-10-09 Thread René Sterental
Yeah... ;-)

Clearance for the widest possible metal fenders for the 44mm Compass tires.

I just finished rendering the bike. The rear aluminum Honjo was a perfect
installation. On the front one, I guess because I was already a bit tired,
the holes I drilled for the Fatima and the front rack weren't perfectly
centered, so I had to widen them a bit. All is masked under the washers and
cork, but I know. I have a spare one from another installation that went
wrong (how else do you really learn?) so I may try another day.

This bike is perfect. With everything I've learned about adjusting fender
lines, I actually think I ended up with good clearance.

Photos show the details - scroll left: https://flic.kr/p/M687Lz

I like everything about mine except there is no fender mounted taillight

That means you must use a rack mount or seatpost mount.

Curious, what's the benefit of using centerpulls vs side pulls on a Cheviot?

[RBW] ISO: Crankset for Cheviot

2016-10-09 Thread Belopsky
Plan was to pull the Shimano triple from another project, but the threads
are stripped - so I need another crankset for my Cheviot. 165 or 170mm
please.

Anyone have a SILVER crankset from a Clem, maybe? Looking for something
cheaper but not too trashed..

Thanks
