$20 + Priority shipping. That seems to be $11.20 for many locations, so
$31.20 *net* or $20 + actual Priority shipping, whichever is cheaper.

Last chance before Goodwill or before they are buried forever in the depths

2019-10-04 Thread Leah Peterson
When I got my two bear cubs (ages 13 and 10, the exact ages of Jonathan and
John) back from school, I sat them down and played this podcast while they ate
their snacks. They were wide-eyed. It would be like riding their bikes to Los
Angeles from Vegas. Maybe a little shy of Jonathan/John’s trip, actually. And
to your point, Doug, you know those 70s boys had no racks! They likely hauled
their stuff in backpacks on their backs. Over mountains.

Going tubeless won't affect tire clearances, if the tires fit with tubes
they'll fit with sealant. To that end, you'll be happy to hear I just put
together a 50 cm 650b Chev with SKS P50s and 43mm Fairweather tires and
everything fit well.

Good luck with your install!

[RBW] Silver Comet Trail Extension

2019-10-04 Thread aeroperf

For those Riv owners in the Atlanta area (and I’ve seen comments from more
than just a couple), we are going to get the Silver Comet Trail connected
to the Atlanta Beltline.

https://www.ajc.com/news/local-govt--politics/cox-gives-million-connect-silver-comet-atlanta/pKMbgS1tDhORwX182Mt3II/

The article says it will add about 10 miles to the Comet, but it will also
add access to the 22 mile Beltline loop around Atlanta.

https://beltline.org/wp-content/uploads/2012/06/Atlanta-BeltLine-Overview-Brochure-092019.pdf

For those Riv owners who don’t live in the Atlanta area - come visit, and
bring your bikes!

[RBW] A Bicycle Adventure Story

2019-10-04 Thread Bicycle Belle Ding Ding!
You guys, has no one listened to this episode Grady recommended? No? You have
done yourselves a disservice. I am only in the middle of it and had to stop to
come back here and write to you! Thank you Grady - I am subscribed now and
LOVING IT!

Let me set this up for you. You’re 10 year old, and it’s the 70s. You have the
coolest ‘70s father to ever walk the Earth in platform shoes. He’s the type of
guy who says late at night, “Who wants to get ice cream?” and extends the
invite to however many of your friends can pile in his van. Seat belts? For
what? One day your dad tells you he thinks you should ride to your uncle’s
house. 240 miles away. Across 2 states. Over the Adirondack Mountains. On your
3 speed bicycle. You still have your baby teeth. Put this story together with a
grab-your-gut-funny host that will make folks in other cars look sideways at
you during your fits of laughter at stoplights.

And that is where I leave you.
