Looking for nitto clamps in the huge size (Riv is sold out) these might have
been included in a rack you purchased - intended to mount an F32 to a front

Re: [RBW] Short rides are good

2019-12-28 Thread Patrick Moore
John: Your setting sounds delicious. Care to post some cycling wildlife
photos, if you have them? And a photo of the Brompton would be nice.

Within a few hundred yards of my door I have our riverine Bosque (green gem
in high desert landscape), very rideable -- if you have fat tires for sand
-- with hawks, ducks, geese, and herons, not to mention small game and
plenty of urban coyotes.

Patrick "Just Walk" Moore, tired and busy, and it's cold and wet and windy,
so walked (briskly!) ~1.5 errand miles instead of riding.

Yea! I saw yours Jason. There is some obvious overlap in our setups and I was
scoping yours out in the month leading up to building mine. I just need to
figure out the crankset situation as I would prefer a wide range double. I
could buy VBC rings in the preferred format but that would be as much as a new
crankset so I have yet to decide. Should get it on a longer ride this weekend
and will report back with photos and updates.

Awesome looking bike! I too bought my first Rivendell recently, a 51 Sam
as well, only a month before you. I have hopes of riding it for decades,
bucking my previous habit of switching things up every 3 years or so. I've
only put about 250 km on mine so far, but it's already really impressed me
in terms of the fun / comfort / versatility combination!

that's four--there's more.

[RBW] Re: First post, first Riv, first ride

2019-12-28 Thread tc
Welcome! You've got an awesome Sam there...big tires to boot :) I've
never seen the Crust Shaka bar mounted. With the flyout angle, it looks
like it slots in between the Salsa Cowbell and Cowchipper.

I also started my Riv journey with a Sam, which my wife stole upon her
first ride (she's tall, long femurs, and had never (NEVER) found a bike
that fit her like a glove like that Sam did - and still does. So I got
another Sam for me, but ended up selling it because it was really too
small, and I also had a 61 Roadini, which was an overlap situation; I
could've made it work, but it would not have looked like I wanted it to.
But I really missed that burnt orange color. Riv put the remaining
sidepull Sams on sale, so now I have a 62, and love it.

Good luck - they're super bikes, as I'm sure you've discovered by now.

2019-12-28 Thread Marc Irwin
Keep using my bikes for transportation around town.I don't track bike
mileage anymore but that routine has kept my driving in the 2-3K range for
a year. Make 3 week long self supported trips and monthly weekend trips to
the Lake. I should ride in a charity ride each month and perhaps a few
more club rides. Find more effective ways to promote the book I wrote

about cycle touring. I should enjoy another great year.
