Well it may not be a windfall price for the seller, but it's certainly good on
the buyer's end. That's a nice bike, enjoy!

2020-01-20 Thread Reid Echols
I’ll agree with Julian, and as a bargain hound that’s exactly the kind of
listing I look for. May well pay for it on this one (or another in the future),
but in my experience Rivs hold their value fairly well when presented and
described accurately (and, perhaps, with a bit of the RBW romance).

Look for parts from said Homer here soon, and perhaps a 64 Ram...

2020-01-20 Thread Julian Westerhout
Semi-anonymous MCT,

I wish all posters here gave at least their name, and all sellers posted
lots of good info.

It looks like it has now sold. I think the seller was also limited by
trying to sell it at the worst time of the year, not cleaned, poorly
photographed, not measured accurately (and measurement not photographed),
along with a short, not very detailed description. I don't disagree that
the market is soft, but IMHO this bike went for less than it could have due
to the seller's lackluster efforts.

I did for a while (2016 Sam) - the stand over was tight but doable, however
after playing with stems -always with a drop bar - decided that I felt too
stretched out. If it doesn’t sell I might try to put some albatross or Billie
bars to try it out again... I loved the bike other than feeling stretched.

Yep, it's brutal out there for sellers of custom and Waterford Rivs. The
bicycle market in general is a wreck in the wake of ebikes, plus you can get a
perfectly great Riv brand new for a low-ish price if you're not wedded to lugs
(SPOILER: Most folks aren't wedded to lugs as long as the bike is pretty and
goes good).

My upcoming expensive and fully-lugged custom is staying put until I can't hop
in the saddle anymore.

[RBW] Re: NOS Rivet Leather Saddle w/Ti rails $135

2020-01-20 Thread Paul M
This saddle came off a new Co-Motion divide that I purchased this summer.
It was only on the bike for 2 very short rides (20 miles) total. It has the
length of the Independence model (280mm) but the width of the Sonora model
(174mm) which makes me think it is an older model.

[RBW] For Sale: Dura-Ace Crank, Campy Pedals, Sugino Seatpost, Suntour Deraileurs

2020-01-20 Thread Adam in Indiana
A crosspost from the iBob list...

Some items I've been meaning to sell off for a while now... I'm not an expert
on vintage stuff, I just like messing around with older frames, and as such end
up with some vintage components as well. That said, if I'm off on the prices
or just being an idiot, I'll take no offense if someone lets me know!
By the by, a few questions for those who do know their vintage stuff... Is this
a first-gen Dura-Ace crank? I originally thought so, but some subsequent
research made me think possibly second-gen...

Also, I'm not a Campy fan, so I have no idea what model pedals these are.

All prices include shipping in the continental US!

Shimano Dura-Ace Crankset; 170mm, early generation, has both crankarm bolts,
but only one dust cap. - $160

Campagnolo Pedals; they show some wear, but still spin smooth. Could
definitely use a repack. - $45

Suntour Cyclone Rear Deraileur - $50

Suntour Cyclone Front Deraileur - $30

Zeus Fluted Seatpost, 27mm - $35

NOS Sugino SP-KC Seatpost, 26.8 - $25

Pictures:

https://drive.google.com/folderview?id=1add8HI7-9EVeBX1z2ppK5Yv7tz91JbYr

Somewhere I've got some Suntour barends and some nifty Suntour Symmetric
downtube shifters, which I can confirm work with an 8-speed derailleur. I've
been meaning to post those as well, so if you've any interest let me know and
I'll move a bit faster on those...

Thanks!

[RBW] Gus Susie Questions

2020-01-20 Thread Charlie R

I have one ordered and have begun my planning of parts.

Several questions:

What size is the seatpost? I assume one does not come with a frame.

Bottom bracket - Does a frame come with a bottom bracket?

I recall reading somewhere that Rivendell was going to offer two variations
of bottom bracket crank combinations. One would accommodate a single front
crank and the other the usual double triple crankset.

Anybody know if a single crank bottom bracket set will be offered?
