Is that little rack the Dia Compe one? I have a bike with the e? I have a bike
with the Dia Compe 610 brakes and thought about it as a headlight mount and a
place to stow a raincoat or something, but I worry about stressing the brake

[RBW] FS: NIB Selle Anatomica X2 Saddle, Oxblood/Silver

2020-09-17 Thread Paul Brodek
NIB Selle Anatomica X2 Saddle, Oxblood/Silver: $100 shipped conti USA,
paypal G/S

I thought I posted this last night, but I'm not seeing it on the list. My
sincere apologies if this is a duplicate post.

I got this new/unused from the original owner, figuring I'd use it, but
never did. Never installed, never tensioned, like new.

The under-saddle sticker says Oxblood, the box sticker says Black, not sure
what's up with that. Maybe the original owner had two, and the boxes got
switched? I have seen ebay listings with Black in the title, and Oxblood in
the description, sowho knows? Saddle color definitely is Oxblood, not
Black.

Let me know if you've got questions. Photos/flickr links below

Of all places Park tool shows an older DA RD being overhauled with teeny

I've found plenty of videos but they are of the newer style of RD that have
an allen head pin rather than the c-clip. I'll link this video anyways of
the newer style as he shows and explains well the attaching the spring unit
into the body. No music or speed instruction, just him speaking as a normal
person.

Rivendell Reader #3 has a bit on the first gen Rivendell frames. No info on how
they're equipped when originally sold though.
One of the articles from Addison's list has the All-Rounder test bike equipped
with:
   - Suntour Accushift bar-end shifters
   - Suntour Superbe Pro brake levers
   - Suntour XC Pro rear derailleur, front hub, and cantilever brakes
   - Suntour 6-speed cog
   - Simplex Touring front derailleur
   - Ritchey WCS Triple cranks with Willow chainrings
   - Specialized CrMo spindle BB
   - MKS Sylvan track pedals
   - Mavic 217 rims
   - Ritchey Mega-Bite Z-Max tires
   - Bullseye rear hub
   - DT spokes
   - Nitto stem, drop bar and seatpost
   - Campagnolo Chorus headset
   - Brooks saddle
Wow! What a hodgepodge of brands and models! All top-flight stuff for sure, but
I don't think I've actually seen a bike with such varied equipment; and being a
bag-matcher, I would find that…unsettling. LOL. I actually don't know if there
was ever a standard fit-out for the All-Rounder. I vaguely remember that only
some models came equipped with standard equipment (e.g., Quickbeam), and the
All-Rounder wasn't one of them. Still, I remember Rivendell offered many
high-quality, but arguably dated parts with varied availability back then.
Thus, the "default" fit-out probably varied with what's at hand.

[RBW] Re: Clear instructions for installing rear derailleur mounting or upper pivot bolt

2020-09-17 Thread masmojo
Well, I "think" I understand what you're asking, but I'm afraid without it
sitting right in front of me, it's hard to visualize as I haven't done it
in awhile. Looking at the diagram, it appears to go together in much the
same fashion as the tension spring of a Shimano Cantilever brake. It
shouldn't really matter, but I would back the tension screw off all the way
before reassembly. if I am seeing it correctly. Insert the spring and
spring keepers(?), then rotate the spring until the ends land in the holes
at either end. Place the derailleur on a table or use an Allen key to apply
pressure to the bolt then continue Turning/compressing the Spring until the
groove for the C ring is exposed. With your third hand insert the C clip in
the slot. should be easy from there.

On the other question: the pins that join the Parallelogram plates
sometimes have a screw slot (rarely), but because you are asking I assume
yours does not. That being the case it's simply a matter of what goes in
must come out. A simple drift to drive out the pin with a hammer. This is
chancy though, because once removed it may want to come loose when
reinstalled, better to let sleeping dogs lie. is there some chance of
getting a Dremel bit in there? If the pin has Knurling to hold it in that
would increase your chances of being able to reinstall it satisfactorily.

[RBW] FS: Drop Handlebar Setup - 50mm Nitto Stem - VO 50cm Rando Bar - Non-Aero Brake Levers - Tape - $70 plus shipping

2020-09-17 Thread David B

Selling a setup that I had on my Clem - original plan was to test out drop
bars to see how I like them on my first generation Clem. Well I certainly
like them and the experiment was a success, but am itching to try some
different wider drops once the new Riv 31.8mm stems arrive. I'm running a
Wavie bar in the meantime, which is wonderful! Plan to have 2 handlebar
setups, setup rinko style for easy swaps.

So...
Selling this as a complete setup rather than taking apart the nice
condition Newbaum's cloth tape.

Includes:
Nitto Technomic Standard Stem - 50mm extension, 26.0mm clamp, polished
silver, 225mm quill height
Velo Orange Rando Bar - 50cm width (end-end centers) - this version does
NOT fit barend shifters
Dia Compe Non-Aero Brake Levers
Newbaum's Blue Cloth Tape
Mismatched corks for bar plugs (installed, not in photos though)

Does not include cables or housing.

$70 for everything listed plus shipping.
Seen here on my Clem: https://www.instagram.com/p/B-koMDRFxak/

Paypal for payment.
Contact offlist if you can. If you're having issues with that, feel free to
send a message through my webshop: https://treetop.bigcartel.com/contact
Thanks,
David

Need some pics of yours John! I presume it's built for 26" wheels. FYI -
This one claims to the the first - from 1995. I don't doubt it. Not sure
who bought it back in 2011 when this article was written.

http://www.xo-1.org/2011/11/for-sale-rivendell-all-rounder-1995.html#:~:text=As%20a%20historical%20note%2C%20this,it%20was%20the%20first%20sold.

Nice paint!

[RBW] Grand Bois Cypres 700 x 30 substitutes?

2020-09-17 Thread True Golden
Hopefully a month ago for the last post
is not too long to resurrect this thread.

On impulse I bought a pair of the Challenge Strada Bianca in the 700x36 size to
try on my Sam Hillbourne.

It took me about 20 minutes per tire to mount them on Dyad 24mm wide rims.

After inflating I'm getting 36mm wide initially.

I used velcro strips to hold in place as I worked my way around.

It wasn't terrible but it was tedious.
I went round and round several times b4 inflating to check for possible
pinching of the tube.

I'm tempted to take a light easy to mount folding tire in my bag just in case I
get a flat.

>From what some have said they will get a bit easier to mount over time.

It will be interesting to see how they ride.

After reading this thread I'm wondering why I didn't just order some Rene Herse.
