bike. I'm smack talking that the price keeps rising.

Yes, the bag loops on a Berthoud Aspin/Aravis are spaced about the same
distance apart as those on a B.17 and fit the straps on a Carradice
about as well.  The slots are rather different than B.17 loops and you
have to slide the straps in a bit differently (they're more like long
tunnels than flat pieces of metal with holes in them) but they work just
fine.

I have a pair of 26” studded schwalbes winter marathons I could sell you. I
moved to Manhattan since Covid hit and I just walk to work instead of
biking now, so I’m not rocking the studded tires this season. Studded tires
are awesome.

If not, I recommend some other type of Schwalbe tires.

Re: [RBW] Re: Hi & Questions...

2020-12-19 Thread Philip Williamson
Hi Philip, that Scottish bike life sounds ideal. I rode a rented mountain
bike in the forest preserve near Loch Ard twenty-some years ago. Beautiful,
steep, and sloppy riding, and I saw a team of horses pulling felled trees
out of the forest!

I checked out that Kona, it’s pretty awesome. Fat tires and drop bars is
where it’s at for me. I’m not a fan of the cables under the down tube,
since they pick up gunk and trash, but if the bike is fenderable, that’s
less of an issue. The dropper post is a nice thing to have, for sure.

You might consider converting your MB-1 to fat light slick tires like the
Rene Herse Rat Trap Pass (“RTP” for short) and drop bars like the On-One
Midge. That would be a pretty fun bike for the riding you describe.

Hi,
The RH instructions tell you to install the cranks dry. Which I did. This goes
against my normal method. So, in the end I greased the spindle and bolt and
tightened it all down. So, far so it has held up.
My BB is a cheap Shimano. Perhaps the SKS BB has a better fit.
