[RBW] FS Grilver 52 Clem H

2021-06-17 Thread Alex K
Just posted this on Craigslist. I grabbed it off of CL for $1500 last week
hoping it would fit my buddy who's been looking for the perfect bike for a
while. I thought this was it, but it was a little too big. Hoping to find
a good home for her. Not in a hurry to sell, hoping somebody is really
pumped to find a Clem and will appreciate this bike as much as I do my Clem
H.I bought it with no seat/pedals. Added a Brooks Ti with Selle
cutouts that I paid $250 for and some new-ish MKS pedals. I have Soma
Cazadero tires to throw in. Asking $1800 (with seat extra tires and pedals)
email me at acksf78 at gmail for pictures. Hoping for local sale in the SF
Bay Area. Will consider shipping if you've really been looking for one of
these for a while. Not sure how much that costs, but assuming it's in the
$200 range. Not in a hurry to sell or make any money off this thing, just
hoping it finds a good home.

Thanks.
Alex

[RBW] Re: Roadini Tires: Anyone running 38s?

2021-06-17 Thread Jeff B
Rivendell did state that the 2020 had more clearance. Mine is the 1st
generation but will still fit 38mm tires.
I meant that I need to instal the tire deflated to get it past the brake
shoes even with the caliper open.
Also, some orange frames from the 1st batch apparently had the brake bridge
welded too high which allowed bigger tires but almost made it so you would
have to use a long reach caliper instead of a standard.

2021-06-17 Thread Bones
I believe the clearance depends on your model year. My Roadini is from the
2020 batch and I can easily fit 38 Shikoros without deflating. I had Jack
Browns on there for a short time but will not be going back to them on this
bike.

[RBW] 700c front wheel in LA

2021-06-17 Thread Jared Wilson
Hello all

Visiting family in LA until Saturday and I'm still looking for a front
wheel for my Simpleone project.

Do you have an extra silver 700c wheel collecting dust in the Los Angeles
area?

If so, I'm interested.

Message me off site and lets talk!

Jared

[RBW] Re: Question for people who have ridden Compass/Rene Hearse tires

2021-06-17 Thread lconley

Using the Ideal Tire Pressure spreadsheet (based upon the chart linked from
the RH website) and assuming 30 lb bike for a total of 410 lb and 45%/55%
front rear weight distribution - it comes up with 47 psi front / 57 psi
rear for 55mm wide and 48 psi front / 58 psi rear for 54mm wide. The
calculation is based upon actual tire width on the actual rim used, not the
advertised width. Add a few more pounds and subtract a few more centimeters
and you could easily be at 50 psi front / 60 psi rear.

[RBW] Re: Question for people who have ridden Compass/Rene Hearse tires

2021-06-17 Thread Hugh Smitham
Chris,

Here's what I've noticed but first a little background.

I have run Compass tires 42mm but have yet to run Rene Herse tires. I do
have Panaracer Gravelkings in 48mm. I believe Rene Herse uses the Panaracer
manufacturing to make their tires. I think that's what I have read but hey
maybe I'm wrong. Either way they are similar if not exactly the same. I
also run 650b x 2.8 Schwalbe G-ones. I have converted over to tubeless on
all my tires and I weigh 175#. I have noticed at low pressure on the
Gravelkings below 20# the side wall collapses with a squirrely feeling.
I've noticed the same on my G-ones as well. Literally, a few extra psi and
it goes away. IIRC, the Compass tires I used to run on my A. Homer I ran
with tubes and it seemed to be about the same. I think others that have
mentioned adding some pressure are right.

In terms of the noise. I have never heard any weird noise. If no one has
recommended this yet and I haven't gone through all the comments, maybe
shoot a short video of what your hearing? Obviously safety is your first
priory so don't film and get in an accident.

2021-06-17 Thread Addison Quarles
Doug, I settled on the Soma Supple Vitesse EX as I'm unable to find the
Shikoros in the width I want (48mm)
I could've gotten the folding bead Everwear in 48 but I'm a sucker for
brown sidewalls ¯\_(ツ)_/¯
I'm skeptical of their durability, but having commuted on and gone on a
loaded tour with Compass 700 x 32 EL tires with only two flat tires I might
have some kind of good luck in that regard.
I'll post pictures once the wheel is done and the tires are on!

Re: [RBW] Re: 2021 Appaloosa thread

2021-06-17 Thread Kushan
I got the Mermaid as well (60 cm). Wheels was the biggest decision for me
as well. I was torn between the stock Cliffhangers vs. these bargain dynamo
dyads
.

In the end, played it safe and went with the Cliffhangers because I have
never bought bargain wheels online before and wasn't sure of their build
quality.

Other than that, I am going with pretty much RBW recommended parts (from
Will's recent newsletter) and Albatross handlebar. I saw a Mermaid Appa
being rolled out while I was visiting the shop earlier today and that color
looks way more blingy than the photos would have you think. Can't wait!
