Ahhh! Not to hijack but I had seen a pic of that MB-1 Erik Billings worked on
and didn’t know who did it! Mystery solved now (and since no one is buying my
MB-1 I guess it’s time to talk to a man about a fork…)

Thanks Irving and Bill (and off list responder).
I send Erik a message (also recommended by another reader off list) and
will try Ed too.

Hopefully this means I’m all set, but I am curious if anyone else has more

Thanks for the quick help,

[RBW] FS: 59cm Waterford Roadeo

2022-01-13 Thread Gabriel Bruguier
Hello all,

Up for sale is my 59cm Roadeo, built by Waterford, with threaded fork. It
is the Maroon colorway shown on the Riv product page
(or very close to that color).
This frame has mid-fork eyelets installed. As far as I know, I am the
third owner. I bought it off a fellow RBWOB lister last winter, rode it
over the spring and summer, but it has been stored in the garage since
then. I love the bike but I don't foresee as much use as I'd like, and
would rather send it on to a new home.

Frame is in good used shape. There are plenty of signs of beausage on the
paint, but no dents or rust. I sprayed it with Boeshield before building
it up. It has never been crashed to my knowledge.

Here's Riv's geometry chart with a link to PBH sizing recommendations.
  My PBH is right
around 85, and this size worked for me.

Photos are here.

The build list is below. The front der, wheels, brakes, brake levers, and
shifters were from a previous build, but are in good shape. Though there
is some scraping on shifters and levers. All other parts were bought new.

I am asking $3500 for the complete bike, plus LBS packing fee, and shipping
to lower 48. Located in Lincoln, NE. I am not interested in trades. I
might be open to parting it out, if there isn't interest in the complete.

Please contact me off list with questions or offers. Thank you for reading,
-Gabe

Hey Abe,

I would highly recommend Erik Billings out of Oakland (Instagram

deal with.

He did some surgery on a Crust Bombora

it’sset serviceable . It is very easy to replace the top. I initially had a

Yes it is berthoud saddle . I thinks it great if you have drop bars ( at
least the one that I have - aspin) . Brooks and Berthouds bigger model
might be between for upright bars . I like the fact that top is user
replaceable .

Cospea cranks on closeout. Being Sugino, they're strong and beautiful,
and yet among the lightest alloy cranks I've ever weighed. So I bought a
bunch from Ben's Cycle, almost one for every bike, maybe a few extra
too. I believe they were readily available at Ben's at reasonable prices
around 2010 because they require an Octalink bottom bracket, Shimano's
9-speed standard rarely adopted by other companies, and some people just
don't like Octalink. Sometimes the Alpina Cospea was available in silver
but more often in black. And sometimes it came with the 48-34 chainring
combo I tend to use, and sometimes with other combos. When that
happened, I bought the cranks anyway, and changed the chainrings to the
48-34s I wanted. These sets of 50-34s and 50-36s are take-offs from
great sets of cranks, simply because I prefer 48-34.

Dave, who also loves 46-34 combos to make use of old "mountain" cranks
on bicycles more ridden on roads

Hello!

Today’s TK sale continues with chainrings, a big batch. All of these
chainrings are new, except for the Suntour bits 15-17. I’m selling
most of the 38 items as sets, triples and doubles, mainly 110/74 BCD
and several 130 BCD. There’s also a bunch of 74 BCD solo grannies, and
a few single rings. A few sets were installed and removed, but never
ridden, never chained. Some chainrings have varying degrees of ramps
and pins (RP), while some are flat (FL), and are marked with those two
acronyms, RP or FL.

All prices include shipping when buyers cover Paypal fees. Photos
available as needed. Questions quickly answered. All offers

these rings, send me the item number too - will help both of us.

Thanks for looking. Thanks for helping us downsize.

[RBW] Re: Welder to add v-brake posts in SF Bay Area / Napa?

2022-01-13 Thread Bill Lindsay
I've had work of that kind done by Ed Litton, but I kind of know Ed, and
have had quick turnaround. Others tell me that he has literally hundreds
of repair frames in his shop right now, which I imagine is multiple years
worth of work. I want to take a the welding series of classes at Laney in
Oakland.

[RBW] Welder to add v-brake posts in SF Bay Area / Napa?

2022-01-13 Thread Pancake
Looking to add v-brake posts to my Sam Hillborne and Cheviot (jealous of
those Platys).
*I need a bike frame builder / welder who can add them and is not too busy.
Any recommendations? Preferably near Napa, *but I can go a hour away for a
good builder.

I tried John of Fitz Bikes in Santa Rosa but he's busy with frames (as he
should be). Tried Jim G Racks on instagram but haven't heard back for a
while.
I don't need someone to paint the burned up sections after, I'll handle
that myself.

Any other recommendations?

Take care,
Abe in Napa

Latest update shows 3 sealed cartridge bearing headsets left:

 * Shimano STX grey/black NEW = $65

 * Shimano Ultegra 600 silver (no crown race) exc. = $22

LMK off-list if any questions. Thanks for looking.

Hi – If you need a headset for classic 1-inch threaded steerers,
you’ve come to the right place. I’ve got 8 headsets for sale, half are
brand new, the other four in fine condition. And if you need a
threadless 1-inch headset, you likely know that Chris King makes some
relatively inexpensive parts to turn the three lightly used CK
headsets below into more modern units.

All of the headsets:
* are sized for the more common ISO 1-inch standard, not the rarer JIS
standard.
* have cartridge bearings, except for the Stronglight Delta’s needle
bearings.
* have stack heights of 37.5mm (CK) or 37.6mm (Shimano); but the
Delta’s is 40mm.

Prices include shipping for buyers who cover Paypal fees. Photos
available on request, and questions quickly answered.

Hope you find my downsizing useful.

Dave, who must be either optimistic or lazy because it’s the middle of
January and he hasn’t yet taken the bike racks off the roof of his
station wagon

+ + + + + + + +

Stronglight Delta silver NEW = $75
Shimano Deore LX (M563) black NEW = $70
Shimano STX grey/black NEW = $65
Shimano 105 (5500) silver NEW (2 available) = $60 ea.
Chris King 2-Nut sotto voce silver near-new = $95
Chris King 2-Nut no-logo silver not-quite-near-new = $85
Chris King 2-Nut no-logo silver exc. = $70
Shimano Ultegra 600 silver (no crown race) exc. = $22
