2022-10-01 Thread Roberta
I have SON Edelux II on my Platy and had B on my Homer. It might have
been the mounting angles, but I thought the light was brighter and better
with the SON, so I switched the Homer to it. When you're here end of
October, perhaps we can pedal together in the dark and you can see your B
next to my SON and then decide.

I suggest a ride over the Ben Franklin bridge to NJ--It's one of my
favorite rides.Cannot help with the connections though. @keystonebikes
does excellent work on all my bike issues and installed it for me. They
"get" Rivendell and will be at the expo, as well as the party they are
hosting Saturday night. I'm sure you can get some good info from them and
Riv..

Perhaps you-know-who-we-want-to-come will join us. :)

[RBW] Re: SON light vs B IQ X 100

2022-10-01 Thread Jason Fuller
I have each on different bikes and personally, I would say they're in the
ballpark of being the same - SON's beam pattern is a little better I think,
but the light output has been comparable for my use (nighttime riding in
the city mostly, so not pitch black very often). My gripe with the IQ-X has
been that I find it harder to securely mount and not get bumped out of
alignment - SON's metal mount is easier to secure. I don't know that I
could say it's worth the upgrade unless your existing light is on the way
out, or if you just like the look of the SON, which is valid! Me too!!
Oh, the SON's on-off switch is pretty nice - but I am betting you leave
yours on all the time anyhow like me :)

[RBW] FS: 58 Toyo Atlantis

2022-10-01 Thread twowheeledtexan
Hello Rivsters,

I'm parting with a couple bikes, hope someone else can put them to good
use. This is a 58cm Toyo Atlantis that I got off the group. It's in fairly
good shape based on it's age. Chain suck, cable rub, a couple chips on the
headtube, the usual for a used, almost 20 year old bike. I'm selling the
F/F/HS, seatpost, BB, and your choice of either or both wheelsets. The
silver wheelset is Velocity Dyads laced to a Shimano dynamo and Shimano LX
rear hub, both 36 hole, and have Rene Herse 700x44 Snoqualmie Pass tires on
them. They came with another bike and are in very good condition but I
can't comment on their mileage or who built them. The black set is Velocity
Dyads laced to a SP dynamo hub, and Shimano XT rear, 32 hole front, 36 hole
rear. These are Rich built from Riv, they also came on another bike so I
can't comment on their mileage either. These have Soma Cazaderos, 700x50.
Both sets are interchangeable without adjusting the brakes.

For reference in the pics, the bike is setup with a 5cm stem, Crust towel
racks, and the saddle height is 77cm.

Price for the frame and both wheelsets is $1800. Frame only $1200, $300/set
for the wheels. Shipping is the buyer's responsibility unless you want to
pick up from me in IN about an hour outside of Chicago. If you want/need
parts lmk and maybe we can work something out.

[RBW] FS: XL Gus Boots

2022-10-01 Thread twowheeledtexan
Hello Rivsters,

I'm moving on a couple bikes that aren't being used as much as they should
be. First up is a first generation Gus Boots in XL. I bought this off the
list and have only put a couple hundred miles on it poking around having
fun. It's in very good condition with only a few nicks/scratches that a Riv
rider wouldn't be concerned with, a little chain suck and some cable rub.
I'm selling the F/F/HS as well as seatpost/bb and the wheelset/tires.
Wheels are Rich built from Riv in excellent condition, Velocity
Cliffhangers, 36 hole, Kasai dyno hub up front and Shimano Deore rear hub.
For reference in the pics the bike is setup with 2.25 Schwalbes, Bosco
bars, and the saddle height in the pics is about 77cm. Buyer is responsible
for shipping, unless you want to pick up from me, I'm in IN about an hour
outside of Chicago. I think $2200 is fair, but if you don't make an offer.

These bikes ride like a dream. I've had a Cheviot, and currently also have
a Taiwan Atlantis with the rainbow TT, and the Gus is probably the most
pleasant ride of them all. If you want/need parts let me know and maybe we
can work something out. I've got loads of parts but have been hesitant to
let them go with the current market.

[RBW] Re: WTB: 650b rim brake wheelset

2022-10-01 Thread Slin
For what it's worth, I've been happy with my Crust 650b wheelset. I've been
commuting on it daily and going on fire roads once in a while for about
400ish miles? This is on Soma Cazadero 50mm tires set up tubeless.

I did have to bust out the spoke key to true the rear wheel already. For
the rear spacing, I just let the quick release squeeze in the frame. Shrug,
Sheldon Brown said it would be okay? :)

[RBW] FS: Baggins handlebar bag

Howdy,

Selling this Baggins bag (Photos
). I can probably shove it in
a medium flat rate box, so let's say $65 shipped.

Re: [RBW] Re: Best all-around useful saddlebag?

2022-10-01 Thread Garth
Alternatively, the Tektro fork mounted cable stop 1277A allows the same
cable and housing as a caliper brake as it stops just above the brake. I
find the brake also works better having the stop just above the brake
rather than way up high.

[RBW] Re: WTB: 650b rim brake wheelset

2022-10-01 Thread Joe Bernard
You got me curious about the Crust wheels because I'm wishing now that I'd
built my custom with a dynohub, so took a look. Note that the rear spacing
is 130, my custom and most Rivs use 135. I don't know what frame you're
building up so thought you should be aware of this.
