Looks wonderful. It looks like your rando has an anchor on the top, but not
decaleur. Can you tell and share more?

Thanks, Matt in STL

[RBW] FS Nitto V5 stem & 55 wide Chromo Bosco

2023-12-23 Thread Richard Rose
Good evening & happy holidays to all. Recent changes to my Gus cockpit have
me with these two items no longer needed. V5 stem is at least 9.5 out of 10
and really a lovely item if it works with your handlebar. It requires a
100mm clamp area like the 580 aluminum Bosco. When I built my Gus I could
not find this stem anywhere except from Bluelug. It was $90.00 plus about
$25.00 for shipping. I am looking for $80.00 shipped. I do not have a pic
of the Bosco but it is perfect. I got a really good deal on this - it was
on sale at Soma - $40.00! I will try to pay it forward here - $25.00 plus
shipping. These darn things can be expensive to ship but I will do my best.
PM me if interested. PayPal friends & family please.

Ted,
I like your cycling goals for 2023. I think that this would make a great
Riv t-shirt: 'Riding a lot and enjoying it all! Since 1994'

And I think your long-range goal of riding into your 90s sounds pretty
great too!

My fondest wish is to be that guy in 30 years. We share the same birthday,
so it's a start!

Guys I rode with in college did a semester in Pau. They came back with
stories of riding with a local club into the Pyrenees. They described the
riders as "old mountain goats who tore off our legs and lungs." My friends
were hard core xc skiers in college, and they had a hard time keeping up
with old French guys.

Side note - that "route profile" at the bottom of the YouTube video is a
histogram showing the relative amount of viewing time of each segment ...
sort of a "popularity" measure of the segments. I like Andy's suggestion,
though, that it's a metaphor for a person's life. Plenty of ups and downs.

My cycling goals that I set for 2023 were "Ride a lot. Enjoy it all." I
didn't quite get to "a lot", but I can say I enjoyed it all.

Lovely film!

It has significantly strengthened my core, increased

2023-12-23 Thread Sarah Carlson
Bill, I have been trying to get my friend to try Mt. Diablo with me and we
got an accidental chance to on a group ride a few weeks ago. It was
advertised as a flat 28 mile ride but the leader somehow got lost and took
us up Mt. Diablo. (The group turned around and my friend and I continued
until I realized I would be late for my hair appointment if we went all the
way up). It was actually that ride that inspired me to build a bike with a
better gear range for hills. So maybe a Summit goal is in order!

I used to ride up it in High School... but I'm finding a lot of rides feel
different now.
