[RBW] Large Saddlesack space between rack and saddle loop
Hello- I have 11" of space from the saddle loops to the rack on my AR. I'm wanting to buy and run a large Riv Saddlesack there but I was wondering if that is too much space. The specs for the bag make it seem that up to 9" is the max. Anyone using a large saddlesack with more than 9" of air between the saddle loops and your rack? Thanks- Norm in Portland PS. Catalog says 61, 63 and 65 went to 700c I'm guessing that this particular catalog excerpt was from later in the period of model availability, and reflected a change that occurred at some point. As noted, mine is 60cm and has 26" wheels. And I know of at least one larger than mine (assuming 61cm, picture attached below) that also has 26" wheels. Prior to 1999, it may be that this size still fell below the "cutoff" between 26 and 700c, or it may just be the case that nothing larger was ever ordered/built. I still kind of think that, at first, they were ALL 26" though. Remember that the original reason for using 26" tires was that there were no 700c tires that had enough volume. (Or at least very few.) At some point, that obviously changed. If I'm correct, it looks like the change might have actually happened mid 1999, comparing with Norman's info, and corresponded to a change in builders (Joe Starck, earlier in the year, used 26", and Match, later in the year, used 700c?) Or who knows... maybe there was an option to choose for a short period during the overlap. -- You received this message because you are subscribed to the Google Groups "RBW Owners Bunch" group. I know, they tend to favor blues/greys from their recent blugs. I want to have my 1988 Panasonic Schwinn Voyageur painted in RED, and would like to know what if any shade Riv used in the past. I was favoring the 1970's Schwinn Opaque Red (non-metallic). The frame is the original Emerald Green, which is not high on favorites. However, the paint has held up very good considering the 25 years. Schwinn was using a clearcoat at that time, which may have helped. Keeping it indoors (garage, shed) and not in a parking lot, like a car, probably also helps the paint. TIA. I bought an ordinary Tange 26" fork from Bruce Gordon instead. Perhaps a custom builder could do a run of these forks: 26", lugged, 2.4" tire clearance, absurd number of braze-ons, a nice paint color. I'm not going to say a ton of people would want this, but there's probably enough for a small batch. If so, I'm in. m On Saturday, April 8, 2017 at 11:35:19 AM UTC-4, Tony DeFilippo wrote: I'm looking to re-fork my XO-3 for easier 2" tire clearance and mid-fork braze on's for rackage. I'd take any color, pretty much any usable condition. Figure it's a long shot but maybe someone has one laying around. PM me if you want to sell, I've got some interesting bits for trade to if that is more up your alley. Since there may be some new demand, I'm considering doing another run of 100. If I do, I'll post here when I have them in hand. In the mean time, please hold off on sending $.
