[RBW] Gravel King SK Nibs

2024-01-10 Thread BobW
My Sam Hillborne (not canti model) had previously installed Rene Herse
Barlow Pass tires under Berthoud 50mm fenders. Clearances were great, and
all worked very well.

For winter riding, I recently installed Gravel King SK 38's, but now I'm
getting a rubbing buzz sound from the tire "bibs" brushing against the
fenders.

Has anyone experienced this and found a solution?? Other than new wider
fenders, is there an easy way to trim the "nibs"??

thanks!

[RBW] Fenders for Roadeo

2023-10-26 Thread BobW
Looking for thoughts on metal fenders for my Roadeo. I believe the max
tire size for fenders on a Roadeo is 32 or 33's??? So presuming a 45mm
fender width works?

Ideally I would like to install metal fenders. I have Berthouds on my Sam,
and they are solid, work well, and look great. Wondering if anyone has has
a good experience for metal fenders on a Roadeo that they can share??

thanks!!

[RBW] Billie Bar Hooks

2023-06-13 Thread BobW
I recently converted my Sam from drops to Billie Bars. I do like the
Billie Bars a lot, especially the multiple hand positions and upright
posture they provide.

I do find myself riding in the "hooks" more often than the swept back
portion of the bar though. I wrapped the hooks with some cork tape, with
Newbaums over that. While this helps with grips and provides some cushion,
wondering if there are any other "Billie Bar Hook" riders out there who
have augmented the hook section of the bar for greater comfort? Thanks!

Anyone have one hey want to be rid of? or know of where one can be

[RBW] New Handlebar Suggestions

2023-02-12 Thread BobW
I'm contemplating moving my Sam Hillborne from dropbar Noodles to some kind
of upright/swept back handlebar, and to be honest, I am a bit overwhelmed
by the various options. By way of background, all I have ever know are
dropbar handlebars; but at 60, I'm thinking the sweptback/upright might be
a more comfortable option for my back!! I like the idea of the aerodynamic
benefit of the drops, so wondering what style of upright might offer aero
for the occasional headwind. From what I have read on this as well as a
few other forums, the RBW Billiebars seems to get high marks. I realize
bar styles are somewhat subjective, however hoping the vast wisdom of the
RBW Owners Bunch might educate me. TIA!!

[RBW] What Berthoud Saddle is this??

2022-12-02 Thread BobW
I came across a used Gilles Berthoud saddle in my travels. It has titanium
rails, so I assumed it is the "Aravis" model (same as Aspin but different
rails.

However it seemed narrow to me so I measured it and it comes out to 150mm
wide; not the 157mm the the Aspin/Aravis are spec'd at.

Wondering if this is a discontinued model?? Anyone familiar with these

[RBW] Re: Front low rider rack for Sam Hillborne

2022-10-09 Thread BobW
Thanks for the input. Ideally, I'm looking for a rack where the attachment
point align with the standard Riv braze on point at the dropout and
mid-fork. It appears that the Nitto Mark's MF2 rack that Rive carries
works, but is kind of pricey @ $221
(https://www.rivbike.com/products/nitto-marks-hub-area-rack-with-hoop-mf2-20236?_pos=6&_sid=f551ef3e9&_ss=r)
So looking for less expensive alternatives to this. Thanks!!
