[RBW] Re: When your Rambouillet chainstay/dropout broke, were you...
I have a 65 cm Rambouillet that I bought from the original owner about 4 years ago. The previous owner said that the chain stay dropout had broken and that it had been repaired by Rivendell and that they had repainted the entire frame including the fork at that time. The bikes wheelset and drivetrain are original, the rear hub is 130. The bike has plenty of normal wear but the previous owner and I have stayed on top of ,regular maintenance and it is a definite joy to ride. The previous owner had been hit from behind by a car and the seat stays were a bit bent as a result of the accident. I was able to get the seat stays bent back into shape by using my body weight to cold set them. You cannot tell that they had ever been bent. I have not had any further issues with the dropouts. I also have an AHH which is a gorgeous bike but not quite as sporty a ride as the Rambouillet. -- You received this message because you are subscribed to the Google Groups "RBW Owners Bunch" group. [RBW] Flying with Bike on Southwest
I've flown with bikes on Southwest several times. The only drawback is that TSA always opens the cases, nothing was ever damaged however the contents were always shifted and moved. I've been very pleased with bike flights and then don't have to issue with both our luggage and the bike case or cases at the same time. I can ship the bikes in advance and ship to a bike shop, Fed Ex store or to the location where I'm staying whichever is best. The cost is about the same or less than taking the bikes on the plane depending on the airline. -- You received this message because you are subscribed to the Google Groups "RBW Owners Bunch" group. Re: [RBW] Re: Transporting a fendered tandem
On our co-motion tandem we use SKS fenders. While they don't have as much wrap as stainless steel or aluminum fenders I have added the long extension that's normally used on the longboard or cascadia fenders which gives us added coverage. -- You received this message because you are subscribed to the Google Groups "RBW Owners Bunch" group. [RBW] Re: Transporting a fendered tandem
We use a a Rocky Mount tandem rack to haul our CoMotion Speedster, with fenders and remove the front wheel. Have hauled with and without fenders for many years and love this design. It's mounted on the outside of the roofline to make it easier to put the tandem on and avoid the issue of the captains crankset hitting the vehicle. It's on a Subaru Outback. I'm 6'3" and would not want to try to put a tandem on top of any taller vehicle. -- You received this message because you are subscribed to the Google Groups "RBW Owners Bunch" group. [RBW] Saddles
I have the Berthoud Aravis which is extremely comfortable and have used for several brevets of various lengths. It took about 500 miles before it was just right, I have about 5,000 miles on this saddle. I also have a Rivet Pearl which I also like, it took 1,000 miles before it was just right but the cut out irritated my privates a bit. I solved that by using a saddles cover all the time, probably have 2,000 miles on this one. Just put a brand new Brooks C17 on one of my rando bikes went for a 30 mile ride after work. First ride out of the box just as comfortable as my Berthoud and more comfortable than the Rivet. Half the price of the Berthoud and less than the Rivet. Better looking, better construction than the Rivet and on par in both these areas w the Berthoud. Absolutely no break in period necessary with the C17. Will be buying more c17's in the future for dome of my other bikes. . -- You received this message because you are subscribed to the Google Groups "RBW Owners Bunch" group.
