[RBW] Wheels by Hunt (Boulder, CO)

2022-09-06 Thread Forrest Meyer
I know in this group there is praise, admiration for wheels built by Rich
L., and I’ve had a couple such sets and they are great. But in the non-RBW
(and non-silver) category, has anyone here had experience with wheels from
Hunt (out of Boulder, CO — and the UK, too, I guess)? Looking at a dynamo
hub wheel set from them. Thanks, — Forrest

[RBW] Need primer on dyno lighting

2022-09-01 Thread Forrest Meyer
I’ve had dyno lighting before on a bike, and I liked it, but I sold that
bike and so am now looking at installing dyno lighting on another bike.

I find all the offerings of products a little confusing, and I’m not sure
which hub and which lights are “best” or are what I need. Or work together
best. Can brands be mixed and matched?

I’m looking for recommendations of *info sources* along the lines of “Dyno
Lighting 101” or “Guide for the Perplexed About Dyno Lighting.” A web site,
an article, a social media group dedicated to this.

Oh, and I’m aware that “dyno lighting” may be a misnomer for the topic, but
I think most of you know what I mean and can offer gentle correction and
guidance. Thank you.

[RBW] Re: moustache or Albastache bars on a Legolas?

2016-12-01 Thread Forrest Meyer
I have the Albastache on my 55cm Hillborne (which is up for sale here), and
I like them a great deal. (I've had the Nitto moustache bars on a couple
bikes in the past. I wanted to like them, but they were never quite right
for me.) Sounds like the Albas will work great on the Legolas, which I have
been using mostly as a pavement bike (great for that with Jack Browns), but
I think with the Albas I'll use the Legolas as more of a light trails/
gravel bike and run Panaracer Pasela TourGuard 37s on it. Thanks, all, for
the input.

This is a companion post to my earlier one for the complete bike (FS Sam
Hillborne 55cm Albastache bars). BTW, dropping price for that to $1,800
now.

This is a blue-gray frameset purchased new from RBW May 2015. Fewer than
1,000 miles on it. No dings or dents; never crashed. Photos here:
https://flic.kr/s/aHskHqvejU

For $950 (buyer pays actual shipping): frame, fork, headset, bottom bracket

For $1025 (buyer pays actual shipping): what you get above for $950 plus
will include SKS fenders with flaps, two-legged Pletscher kickstand, and
Tektro R559 brakes (2).

[RBW] FS (possibly) 2012 Red Roadeo 59cm complete bike

2016-05-13 Thread Forrest Meyer

Rivendell Roadeo 59cm, new in spring 2012. Thinking of selling, Complete
bike minus saddle and pedals (and saddlebag and water bottle cages). Just
trying to assess interest out there ... If it's there I can provide more
info and pics -- and float a price. This bike now has Shimano Claris
brifters (not pictured here) paired to 8-speed cassette. But I also will
throw in Cane Creek brake levers (pictured here) and Rivendell Silver
bar-end shifters as part of the deal if new owner would rather go
"classic." (Barcons shown in pic are Shimano, but the ones I would provide
are Riv Silvers.)
