George, that is my ad as well. I have had zero luck selling things there locally for sometime but I still post. I will likely just bring it to the swaps this winter if it doesn't sell before then. Re: [RBW] Pashley Guv'nor 22.5"
Now is your chance to live your dreams, Doug! I have seen many copies of the Guv over the years. Down to taking an old Raleigh with 531 tubing and building it almost to spec. It is also why I wanted one as well. The 531 tubing is amazing, it has a great set of "modern" parts and rides like a cloud. I believe that Pashley got Reynolds to reissue the specific tubing just for this rig as it is out of fabrication. If anyone would like any additional pics please PM me. I'd be happy to discuss it in detail as well. On Friday, November 3, 2017 at 12:46:19 AM UTC-5, Doug Bloch wrote: > > Ugh... why did you have to post this dream bike of mine and in my size, > too. Patrick, I love that you had a bike designed with a long enough headtube and angles to actually slam it upright! That is awesome! That is exactly what I would love right now. I am good example of the ebbs and flows one goes through with geometry based on health. I always rode aggressively and had pretty good saddle to bar drop. When my lumbar discs started acting up I started riding with more steerer and even buying high rise threadless stems. I have a Gunnar Roadie with a barely cut fork for that reason. My Jones has an uncut tube and actually looks normal because Jeff designed it as so. He even sells new tubes for 30 bucks with his Truss so you can always just go back to the drawing board. After having surgery a few months back the only way I can ride comfortably on the Gunnar is by using the full steerer. If it was cut low like many of you mentioned I would have either sold it or bought a new fork. The threaded option in my opinion these days is almost a must. If I wanted to slam, I could. I have three small ones and "some" bikes. I love my Hunq and will likely not ever get rid of it. My suggestion is to keep the Hunq, and buy a cool kid carrier. I have a Workcycles Bakfiets and in all honesty, it often gets the most road time of all my bikes. I get to be out with my boys, take them places, run errands, and get a legit workout. It is heavy, but it makes you a better rider, allows you to enjoy your other bikes in a different way, and gives you time with the kids that you can't spend with them in a trailer or even a rear mounted seat. Yeah, its expensive, but so are most worthwhile things in cycling. [RBW] Re: N = ? or How do you decide how many bikes to own?
Ah, the N+ question. > > I have gone through many swings in the past years. I used to be a craigslist hunter and would grab something and flip something else. That was great in two regards: It allowed me to try so many bikes out while calming my curiosity, and it has allowed me to find out what I really want in a bike. The later has been supremely importantly lately, as I have decided that a well built, superiorly designed in terms of geometry, and comfortable bike are most important to me now. I have now narrowed the stable down to bikes with what I see as minimal overlap. I ran into the problem over time of having multiple bikes for one purpose (which truly is a hard problem to avoid). Current stable is: Ritchey Swiss Cross Gunnar Roadie Hunq Pashley Guvnor Surly Pugsley (also have a 29 plus wheelset for it for a "Krampug") Workcycles Transport (I've had it for years and I can't get rid of it. It is a great take to anywhere and lock up kind of hauler. All black with no decals, huge and heavy, tons of mounting places, built in lock, etc). The wife and I also share a bakfiets. She has a Surly Troll, Pashley Princess, and Linus Mixte single speed. I just bought a Jones Spaceframe, and while I don't need it necessarily with the Hunq, I have some unique purposes for it in mind. Glad to hear I am not alone on this place. I haven't found a more practical hobby and obsession yet. -- You received this message because you are subscribed to the Google Groups "RBW Owners Bunch" group. [RBW] Re: New tires for the Hunq
Wow, thanks for the tip on the 29 buck Big Ones! Thats 10 bucks a tire cheaper than wire bead Big Apples! I have 29x2 Big Bens on my Hunq and I really like them. I used to do all kind of gravel grinders on my old Surly Ogre with 2.35 Big Apples and they were fantastic. [RBW] Re: Jones and Hunq
Another factor I have been considering, as Daniel mentions, is the tech differences between the two. The Riv would surely be a much easier bike to fix on the fly and cheaply if necessary. The EBB, 135 or 150 front hub (and boost rear of the new plus), thru axles all have their purpose but I have never used any of them on any bike I have owned (I do have a Pugsley with a 135 front but that would be the only exception). My parts bin would suffice in a pinch for the Hunq, and that goes a long way sometimes. I have talked to mechanics about "future proofing" when buying a bike like the Jones but I don't think threaded bbs, threadless headsets, and 135mm spaced hubs are going anywhere soon. Thanks for the feedback thus far. My one issue with the Jones is that I don't believe it will hold up to the Hunq as a commuter. [RBW] Nitto dirt drop length questiom
I was thinking about getting Nittp Rm013 dirt drops for my Commuter/SS cross bike. They come in very wide widths for drop bars at 46, 48, and 52 cm. I normally like a wide bar as I am a wide shouldered fella and would normally buy a 44cm road bar. Any sizing help would be appreciated. -Dave -- You received this message because you are subscribed to the Google Groups RBW Owners Bunch group. [RBW] Re: FS/WTT: 58cm SimpleOne
Hey Justin, Is this for frame/fork/headset? The pics have a stem and wheels and I didn't see a mention in your first post. Thanks.
