Hi, All. Anyone have a spare stem? I would also consider the fillet faceplater. Much appreciated! Re: [RBW] Re: Which Dyno Hub?
I'm surprised I don't see more love for the Kasai hubs. I have a Kasai hub and Kasai Trail Beam on my Clem and I love it, although I don't have a reference for other systems. It's a relatively affordable combo. It was my first-ever dyno hub/light setup and I absolutely love that for the first time I can actually see the road at night - not to mention not having to remember to charge lights. I always loved night riding, and now I love it even more. Regardless of perfect optimization, welcome to the world of dyno hubs. It's a magnificent place to be, and I'm sure you'll be stoked with any of these recommendations. [RBW] Re: Clem Smith Jr. L 59 cm Wheel Sizes
Thanks for the clarification, everyone! I think it makes sense now - it's all about the outer diameter and how much extra rubber the frame can take. Got it. The rim is 700c. [RBW] Re: Clem Smith Jr. L 59 cm Wheel Sizes
Thanks everyone! I think I understand now: 59+cm Clem's have a 700c rim and a frame that can accommodate 29er tires for the extra rubber in the way that the 650b can offer more rubber to frames originally intended for 700c, i.e. to meet outer diameter limitations. [RBW] Clem Smith Jr. L 59 cm Wheel Sizes
Hi, All. I did a quick search but didn't find a thread, so let me know if you know of one re this topic and I can remove this re Clem L's 59cm with 29ers: I noticed on the Riv site that 59cm Clem's can take 700c rims and "29er Tires". Does that mean that it can take 29in rims, or...? I may be looking to size up on my 52cm Clem L to a 59cm and I'm super curious to how 29's perform on this size. Any experience with that (if, of course I'm reading the specs right and the bike can take 29in wheels)? Does this introduce toe-overlap? Re: [RBW] Re: ISO: Riv 50/52 Step Through (Platypus, Clem L, Cheviot)
Dee Dee, I think Clems are going to be available again toward the fall of this year (?). Someone correct me if I'm wrong. I think somewhere on the site there was a rough estimate for availabilities written on a piece of cardboard or something lol. Not sure if this is the place to post this, so let me know if I'm wrong. And sorry if I'm preaching to the choir, but I just wanted to share in case it is useful, because I found it to be useful for my own edification. But regarding the Clem L's (since I too was searching for a great while before I found one) I wanted to say that the early Clem L's have a shorter wheel base than the more recent ones of the last couple (few?) years. Apparently they are really different bikes altogether because of the different wheelbases and slacker headtube (?)! There is a great discussion in the group about Riv's expanding wheelbase throughout the years especially on the Clem L.
