Re: [RBW] What frame protection tape do you use with long term success ?

2022-12-02 Thread Kevin D norcal - santa rosa
3rd vote for ISC surface protection/helicopter tape. I got the 2" wide
roll but 1" would probably catch most everything. I usually put a wrap
under the front derailleur clamp, some at the head tube where cables rub,
etc. And yeah, it always comes off cleanly.

[RBW] Re: SF Bay Area powdercoat

2022-01-16 Thread Kevin D norcal - santa rosa
If your area is SF then I'll second West Coast Powdercoating. AJ is the
man, very helpful and easy to work with. I had a SOMA frame painted there
in 2020: $175 with clear coat (but I had already stripped the frame).
$200+ is probably right these days. He paints frames for Fitz, Sycip and
others - very high quality. You can look up RAL colors online to get close
and then double check the sample strips he has in the shop. best

Re: [RBW] chainring installation

2021-12-17 Thread Kevin D norcal - santa rosa

here's another thread discussing the T.A. drop pin and a couple good pics.
I'd guess the spacer is used to lengthen the set-up if there's a larger gap
involved, between chainring and crankarm.
Having the screw head on the inside is apparently correct but seems
undesirable - why didn't they tap the hole so all the working parts could
be outboard of the chainring (I guess you'd have to install the drop-pin
before installing the chainring that way, so less convenient perhaps). The
pics at this link show a 5arm spider but the 5th arm isn't in line with the
crank (not hidden). Dave H pointed out the pin is intended for the 5th
arm, when hidden I presume. So maybe not needed on this version . . . or
do other set-ups still jam to some degree and this could help anyway?

[RBW] Re: Opinions re Roadeo colors

2021-12-09 Thread Kevin D norcal - santa rosa
Hey Scott, thanks for the clarification. Yeah, I saw it on TPC listed as a
Rodeo (I thought it was listed recently but maybe not). I figured it was
custom and thought maybe Waterford. I saw the fork braze-on but didn't
catch the larger tire capacity. Perhaps more like a Ramb then or even
stouter yet. Great paint either way.
curious: are you saying you bought it from TPC recently and returned it to
them? Or you bought it new from Riv and returned to Riv a while back . . .
and that it wound up at TPC later on.
