Thanks all for the kind responses! It’s such a smooth ride that I’m always looking for excuses to hop on. It’s also so unexpectedly speedy and really zips when you want it to. Hope to join some local rides soon. Marty and John – David is correct and that it just a shadow from the pedals. Sorry for the confusion. They thread pretty securely but I’m always a little worried they will disappear. Allan – Love that noodle and cable hanger routing! I picked up my hanger on the cheap cheap and made it work, but it’s pretty short and pushes the cable bend a bit further than I’d prefer. @Keith P for sure, hit me up if you have any questions! Everything fit into two of the small Ron's bikes Fab's Chest bags. Heaviest single item for me was water, but next time I plan to carry a lot less as there are quite a few refill spots around the island. I was prepared for some more remote days but with a bike you can really get around the island pretty fast and it ends up being pretty cushy with options to eat at the airport or harbors if you want. Main sleeping gear I use is a Durston X-Mid 1 tent, Sea to Summit inflatable sleeping pad, and Firebelly quilt. The sleeping pad and quilt I picked up at the REI used store in Manhattan Beach. I think you can get lucky with some deals there if you're willing to settle for some wear or do some light repairs.
