[RBW] Sam Standover Hieghts for 51 & 55
And if you really want to go into the finer points of SOH, remember you probably measured your PBH barefoot. Or maybe you were wearing socks? How many millimeters thick were the socks. Did you just eat because the additional weight would compress the socks. And you don’t ride barefoot. Which shoes? How many millimeters thick are the soles. How about the other shoes? And your PBH changes from waking to bedtime... [RBW] Best of Boneshaker 50%
For those of you familiar with Boneshaker Almanac, Evan P Schneider (editor) is offering the Best Of compilation at half price. It makes for great quarantine reading, kind of an alternative Riv Reader with less how to and a smidge more poetry. Also recommend his novel, which is 1/2 off in the link as well. https://www.bestofboneshaker.com/order/ Mike M -- You received this message because you are subscribed to the Google Groups "RBW Owners Bunch" group. [RBW] FS - saddles, bags, remaining shifters
More stuff from the parts stash I know I'm probably never going to use. 4 saddles: 2 kind of ugly but comfortable (if Flite saddles fit you) Selle Italia Flite saddles with titanium rails. $20/$25 1 Wrights W3N saddle. Good smooth leather, plenty of tension. $35 1 white Bridgestone saddle - take-off from 86 Mile 112. A little dirty, a little scuffed, but could be just right for your period restoration? $10 3 assorted funky bags. Nothing artisanal, no waxed canvas. still have the Suntour DT shifters and Shimano friction bar-ends. Prices do not include shipping. [RBW] WTB/WTT Paul Thumbies
Need a set of Shimano compatible Paul Thumbies for a project, for 25.4 bars (Albatross). In order of preference I'm hoping for: 1 - silver 2 - black 3 - I'd also consider a set of 9-speed Microshift thumb shifters. I can trade straight across a set of Shimano 9-speed bar-end shifters in excellent condition (yes I'm putting the same style shifters on the Thumbies, but I'm stocked up on enough of these to last the rest of my life.) I also have a set of Suntour bar-ends (friction) and a set of the old friction Shimano spring-loaded bar ends if that's more your thing. I've also got a whole bunch of 6 & 7 speed cleaned and lubed freewheels. [RBW] WTB - Arkel Hooks
I bought a used set of Swift panniers several months ago that came with the Arkel Cam-Lock hooks. As some of you know, these don't play well with Nitto Campee racks and I'd like to swap them out for the standard non-cam hooks (see image.) Long shot, but maybe you did the opposite and replaced your standard Arkel hooks with Cam-Locks and have a set (2 bags) worth just lying around. I can order from Arkel but once I pay for shipping from Canada it's more than I want to spend right now. [RBW] Grant's visit to PDX
I shot some not very good photos. Grant spoke at Powells and said he was deviating from his standard spiel. It was good - funny in a dry way, opinionated, natch. Talked a lot about un-racing, and how he spent a lot of years riding a lot of miles, most of them thinking mostly about getting to the end, and how that's no way to ride - or live. And then we rode to Velocult, which is about the perfect place to end a ride like that. Beers, lots of chatting, the biggest collection of Rivendell bikes I've seen in one place in Portland, and a lot of nice Bridgestones as well. Got a big smile for my '85 MB-2. https://picasaweb.google.com/116897251123335733984/GrantPetersenPDX5122012 -- Michael Mann http://baiku-velomann.blogspot.com/ -- You received this message because you are subscribed to the Google Groups RBW Owners Bunch group. [RBW] re: Daughter's whip/cloth tape/MJ's ride
Scott, Congrats to you and daughter on the new build. E has outgrown her 20 and we're in the market for something. Just borrowed a 24 K2 MTB and I don't think I can bear to see her ride it. Overbuilt and ugly. What size frame is the LHT and how does it fit you daughter? I like the LHT a lot, but think my wife is probably next in line for one of those. What I really want is a sweet urban steel skinny-tube bike with 24 wheels, but such an animal is as rare as hen's teeth. ps - you know, if you spend your money on bikes, you won't be able to afford to move away from Portland :-) Cloth tape: better looking by far, and last longer, especially shellacked. I hear it can be padded underneath - never tried it. I figure if I need padding, I wear gloves. MJ - great to run into you on the Springwater. I got caught in one of those showers between Eagle Creek Estacada. Left my water bottle on the counter so pretty thirsty when i got to the b-day party. fueled on cake and home on Springwater (road). Ended up being a near perfect 100K. Route here: http://www.mapmyride.com/ride/united-states/or/portland/421127217118370946 I'm iffy on the 400 next weekend. Got worked yesterday by riding a different bike/saddle and pretty sore today, including knee. May do the Ride Around Clark County instead.
