[RBW] Re: HHH changes and ride report
Looks like you had beautiful weather. My wife and I rode from Elkins to Montrose last year at this time with similar weather but the trail was closed for a bit beyond that for road construction and then again beyond Parsons for trail maintenance. Is it completely open from Elkins to Thomas now? It's a beautiful and quiet ride when the weather is fine! [RBW] Re: First s24o with Yves
Shoji, yes the log bridge was a good story. It was followed by a push up a short steep hill over lots of tree roots. The other campers were quite surprised to see me arrive! Deacon, this is at the Ceran St. James trailhead above Jamestown if you know where that is.Same vicinity as Allenspark for sure. Hugh, I was able to solve the front end wobbles with careful packing on the return by putting only the sleeping bag and a few light items in the basket. I carried a lot of water on the way up. I think I would look into a water filter for future trips of this type. -- You received this message because you are subscribed to the Google Groups RBW Owners Bunch group. [RBW] First s24o with Yves
Just to prove I could do it and to leave a hectic week in Boulder behind I decided to try an overnight camping trip with my Yves Gomez. As it happened it turned into more of an s26o. The flatland campsites were all full so I decided to head up the mountain where I knew I could find a nice site. Only 20 miles away but 3000 feet up! The grade was very friendly for the first 14 miles and I went at a leisurely pace. All was well though next time I would make the basket a little lighter since I was fighting a floppy wheel at slow speeds. The pitch increased significantly in the last 5 miles and I did end up walking probably 3 of those miles but arrived before sundown. I had a spot in mind but I had forgotten it involved crossing a fallen log bridge across the creek. Probably won't choose that one next time but I made it, though not before dumping the rear wheel cassette deep in the drink. All the gear was dry however so I spent a pleasant night at 8500 feet and after a leisurely couple of coffees and some strategic repacking I walked out and up about a mile and then a much appreciated coast back to town. Pictures prove it happened. http://www.flickr.com/photos/flipvelo/sets/72157634746175045/ -- You received this message because you are subscribed to the Google Groups RBW Owners Bunch group. [RBW] Re: Craigslist mistake delivers a new Bleriot.
I've sometimes felt this way but then I began to encounter Rivs in the wild here in Boulder; a pair of his and hers Atlantii at an art event, a baker/accordian craftsman with a Hillborne and a local blogger with another, a Japanese Flute player with a Ram. I know there are a lot of people out there but I don't know how many are on the list. I'm sure our riding styles vary as much as Colorado's terrain too. Any suggestions on where we might gather? On Tuesday, April 16, 2013 4:50:52 PM UTC-6, jinxed wrote: NICE!! Dang...there are so many Riv owners posting from Colorado! I have only seen one (suspected) Rivendell in the wild here in Denver unfortunately. I wonder if there would be enough support/interest in doing a Rivendell Rally Mile High edition?! -- You received this message because you are subscribed to the Google Groups RBW Owners Bunch group. [RBW] Yves Gomez gets his groove back
After a cold Colorado January contemplating the many directions I could take my Yves I embraced Just Ride and purchased a new set of Bosco bars and moved my shifters to the stem. The results have been subtle and transformative. The slight rise in position has given me a whole new comfort level that wasn't there with the albas and bar ends as well as an aggressive spot down by the stem. Last week's warm spell yielded four lunchtime rides in addition to my short commute that confirmed Cosmopolitan Yves has got his groove back. Pictures here for those interested. http://www.flickr.com/photos/flipvelo/8458945025/in/photostream/ Now if anyone has a green B17 special i'll be done fooling around and ready for a Spring S24O. -- You received this message because you are subscribed to the Google Groups RBW Owners Bunch group.
