[RBW] Re: New Frame Day - Rivendell Mixte "Cargo" bike
Sounds like its going to be a perfect fit for you! Cant wait to see the finished build. Such a cool, cool bike! [RBW] New Bike Day: The Wait is Finally Over!
Great looking bike 👍🏼 I, too, am a big fan of low BB drops. Riv introduced it to me and it’s one of the first dimensions I look at when I look at a bike’s geometry chart. I love the feeling of riding “in” a bike instead of riding “on top” of one (if that makes any sense.) I do like Tom’s resurrection idea. A Longruis/Longbury would be cool. I have always loved how the extra stays on the early Riv mixtes curved into the seat stays. Re: [RBW] Re: Fancier Cheviot?
Yes, looking forward to a new Riv is always exciting. I’m currently saving up for a Chev for the Mrs. and by time I have enough to buy, it’ll probably be spring/early-summer. I hope the “fancy“ Chev will be out by then. [RBW] Re: Women's Handlebar Recommendations?
My wife used the the Nitto M186 (http://www.alexscycle.com/handlebars/ road-1-2/nitto-m186-sti.html) on her old RB-1 and she like them because of the short reach, shallow drops and flat ramps. We have since sold the RB-1 and now she's on a Bleriot with Alba bars which is currently in child-hauler mode. When my wife ever decides to go back to drop bars on her Bleriot, I may have her try the Nitto M106-NAS (http://www.alexscycle.com/ handlebars/road-1-2/nitto-neat-m106-nas.html). It looks to have the same short reach, shallow drops, and flat ramps of the m186 but has a smoother, rounder bend to it (no ergo-bends) -- You received this message because you are subscribed to the Google Groups "RBW Owners Bunch" group. [RBW] Re: Considering new pedals
I've been riding my Quickbeam fixed for the past 2 months. I've been using Grip Kings with Power Grip "Fixie" Staps and have been very happy with this combo. I first tried the "regular" Power Grip straps but found the clamping bracket to be too cheap and flimsy - one my straps kept coming loose no matter how tight i screwed the darn clamp. The "Fixie" version is much better in that the straps screw directly to the pedal - no cheapo bracket needed. Now I no longer have any issues with the straps coming loose. I typically wear Converse Chuck Taylors or Adidas Sambas and sliding them into the Power Grips is a breeze. Also, I find Grip King pedals VERY COMFY to my feet. [RBW] Re: Riding posture - advice appreciated
My wife too has that particular bend in the lower back when riding her Bleriot. I always ask her if she feels comfortable and she always says "yep". My wife does have a long torso and since the rails on her women's brooks b17 are short, I figured maybe she needs more setback?! I'm probably gonna try the Nitto way-back seatpost or the VO seatpost to get that additional setback and see if that improves my wife's riding posture. -Rock -- You received this message because you are subscribed to the Google Groups "RBW Owners Bunch" group. [RBW] XT hubs vs LX hubs?
I'm about to purchase some new Rich-built 650B wheels from Riv. Anybody know if the XT hubs are THAT MUCH BETTER than the LX hubs? There's like a $50 difference between the two. I went onto Shimano's website and tried comparing the two hubs. They look pretty much the same except the XT hubs have an aluminum axle while the LX hubs have a steel axle. I would think a steel axle would be better to have - right? Should I spend the extra $$ to purchase the XT wheelsets? Or is LX ok? I just want the best possible wheels I can buy under $400. --~--~-~--~~~---~--~~ You received this message because you are subscribed to the Google Groups "RBW Owners Bunch" group. [RBW] Will the fork on a 51cm Bleriot frame fit a 53cm Bleriot frame?
The reason I ask this question is because on the Riv site there is a 53cm Bleriot frame for sale but with no fork. My wife owns a 51cm Bleriot (which is a tad too small for her - she's 5'5" with a PBH of 78) and I was wondering if I can transfer the fork from that frame to the 53cm frame. It's only one size larger. Since Riv frames are typically designed with tall-stack headsets, I was thinking maybe the steerer tube could still be long enough to fit the larger frame but I don't know for sure. On my wife's bike I measured about 2cm worth of headset spacers. So can someone out there with a 53cm Bleriot measure their headtube please? [RBW] Riding the Schwalbe Marathon Supreme tire backwards?
Hello, I have a Quickbeam with Marathon Supremes (700x40) tires. I absolutely love the tires. Right now i have the default gearing 18t on one side of the rear hub and would like to install a 16t freewheel on the other side. So here's my question...if I wanted to flip the hub to its other side, does running the supremes against its tread negatively affect the ride or rolling resistance? Here's a picture of the Supreme's tread: http://www.rivbike.com/products/list/tires_tubes_pumps_patches?a=1&page=all#product=10-102 The tread doesn't look like much so I would think it would be ok to ride the tires backwards... --~--~-~--~~~---~--~~ You received this message because you are subscribed to the Google Groups "RBW Owners Bunch" group. I am very interested in this tire but unfortunately I just ordered a pair of Grand Bois Hetres a few days ago. This tire looks like it would fill a much needed size void in the 650B "performance tire" catagory. Its fatter than the Grand Bois Cypres and the Maxy Fasty (both 650Bx32) and i'm guessing slightly thinner than the Grand Bois Hetres (650Bx42).
