[RBW] Re: Which bikes should Rivendell keep selling?

2016-09-15 Thread sprocket67
My suggestion is to add more space tot he showroom/shop. All of the Riv
bikes are unique in their own way and certainly unlike anything being mass
produced.

[RBW] Re: Clem Presale is over.

2015-10-08 Thread sprocket67
It seems like with the limited frame sizes the handlebar rise has to be out
of proportion to fit a rider that might normally need a larger frame. If
you usually ride a 56 you'd have to make the 52 work.

[RBW] Re: A day in the life of a working class Amsterdam bicycle repair shop.

The bicycle rack is interesting. A rope hooked to the exterior wall. The
bike swings while he repairs it.

It's more like a *barrio* car repair shop than any American bicycle shop
I've seen, though Stevie's in Corrales, NM where I do occasional work is
close -- a neighborhood bike shop that repairs and sells what the
neighborhood wants and rides, a lot of lowish end runabouts.

I suppose that such a business can survive without grief only in a society
with a more aggressive redistributive taxation system.

That said, I'm not giving up my multi-thousand, self indulgent, Rivendells
 any day soon.
