As the title suggests, I am looking to “trade” [details below] a lovely
56cm 1995 Rivendell road. The frame measurements are as follows: seat tube
56cm c-t-t; top tube 57cm c-t-c. For more details on the Road, please see

Sorry for the poor quality of the pics. We are in the middle of this bomb
cyclone, and it's dark and -3 outside.

The grey Shimano components look really good on the Riv blue. If I had to
guess, I would say that the wheelset is original to the bike. I think it
had a mix of Suntour Superbe and Shimano 600 when it came to me. For good
measure, the Suntour front derailleur remains. As for condition, there is
definite beausage (i.e, plenty of paint blemishes). Drive side chain stay
and bottom bracket shell are the worst. But, the frame is solid: no dents
or issues to mention.

Letting go of this bike is difficult. The Riv blue, lugs, and headbadge
are beautiful. You might ask, "Why sell?" The answer: the bike does fit
me or my current riding style/needs very well.

Now, here's why the title mentions Bay area trade. I have identified a
specific bike for which I will trade. It is currently for sale in the Bay
area. I have spoken with the seller, and he is knowledgeable and
reputable; however, he wants to deal in person and is unwilling to
facilitate shipping. So, I need some boots on the ground to make this
happen. If you are interested in this quest, please send a PM. I can
identify the bike; you can then buy it with your funds (and negotiating
power) and ship it to me. Once the wheels are in motion, I can get the Riv
boxed and ready to go. I don't want to identify the bike (which is not a
Riv) in question in this post for a number of reasons. Let's just say that
the price is less than $1,500 and that there should be room for negotiation
if you are a good haggler.

Thanks for your interest. I know this is an unusual WTT ad, but I'm
guessing that there's someone who won't mind a little legwork in exchange
for an old school Riv.
