[RBW] Anybody ordering to enter the Sam/Betty raffle? And usual excellent customer service from Riv folks

2013-06-01 Thread bobish
I put together an order with that in mind but enough items were out of stock or
not exactly what I wanted--so that I had a hard time getting to the minimum.
After a while, it just felt like I was adding items to my cart for the
raffle--not because I needed/wanted them. So I ordered what I wanted only and
now I have no routing interest in who wins. :)

Re: [RBW] Anybody ordering to enter the Sam/Betty raffle? And usual excellent customer service from Riv folks

2013-06-01 Thread Dave Rivbike
Hi Everyone,

Dave here, reporting from the road in the SF popup store so this will be my
only post today.

Returning or cancelling an order technically cancels you from the contest.
That was in the rules, at least. But of course if you return it after June
3rd, what can we do, tell you you didn't win? Or redo the raffle with your
ticket omitted? You know the usual story: we need to raise money, we put
on these offers to get cashflow. So if you return your order, we lose the
sale and everyone who placed a big order and didn't win would feel like
returning that too, then where are we? That's why we put the no
cancels/returns clause in there. If you need to return something, like a
wrong size or defective or the usual our fault stuff, please return it
for store credit, in the spirit of the raffle, and we'll keep you in the
running. Just get store credit and we're square. Ok? If we get a huge
number of returns after the winner is announced... lesson learned. I doubt
that though. We have good customers. Questions? email me d...@rivbike.com

We'll announce it June 3rd on the blug if the winner is okay with the
publicity.

The backorder clause was for backorders placed before the contest started.
After that, you're in!

If there are any questions or concerns please email me directly
d...@rivbike.com and I'll get back to you from my phone. Rest assured that
anything we do will be in the interest of fairness to everyone. Basically,
you're in.

Good luck to everyone out there and wish us luck on our opening day in SF
today. Also Jared's birthday. Will's is tomorrow.

Just to clarify: I ordered $300 of stuff. I'm returning something, but the
remaining order is still well over $200. So I think I'm complying with the

Re: [RBW] Anybody ordering to enter the Sam/Betty raffle? And usual excellent customer service from Riv folks

2013-05-31 Thread Anne Paulson
I put in an order over the weekend. I bought some tires and some other
stuff, and decided to check out the MUSA knickers. I carefully made sure
that I was over the limit even if the knickers were going back-- which they
are. I'm sure those knickers are fine, but they will not be joining my
wardrobe.

I thought the raffle was only for a Betty? I've already planned what I'll
do with it when I win ;) The raffle is insanely clever, because I'm sure a
lot of us are planning what we'd do with our new bike. We sort of already
feel like we own it... and then when we don't win, we might decide that we
need to own that bike anyway.

Not to dis Campy but decided to swap out my older Campy SR seatposts for
Nitto S-83 2-bolts on my Rivs because I did have the rails on one of my
B-17's break on my X0-1 (which had a 27.0 mm 96 vintage Campy record
diameter and this is the bike I generally commute to work on. Fortunately
no injury to me..so that is a good thing).

So ordered 2 27.2 mm S-83's and added $10 to 1 of Riv's charities to
bump my order to $200but I didn't have any caffeine in my system this
am , so I accidentally ordered 26.8 mm instead. My partner phoned me at
work and pointed this out, but we couldn't change the order. I phoned Riv
long distance and spoke to Rich who very kindly changed my order to the
correct 27.2 mm (Doh:)). I'm sure they're crazy busy today getting ready
for the pop-up event tomorrow , and doubtless processing a blizzard of
 $200 orders.

So, out of curiosity, did you enter this raffle, and if you did, what did
y'all order and which bike would you pick if you won?

I'm thinking the Betty...at my mature age, a step through would be a
 useful addition to the stable

 Good luck:)

Replacing my wife's Brooks saddle, and a new JB green for me, took us over
the line... it's her chance for a beautiful Betty Foy!
