Ok so I'm new to the Rvendell stuff and so I'm not tired of talking about it. Or lookng at it or riding it. To that end for those of you newer here and still exploring some of the joys of these bikes let me share my joy. I've done all my touring on a 2001 Giant OCR Tour bike and always figured it was ok and as I went to 700x35's from 700x28s liked it even more. So after getting my AHH and seeing the Bombadil I had to go after it. Man am I glad I did. I put on a new Tubus low rider rack today and then loaded all the panniers up threw my tent in the basket and took off to see how it handled weight. 25 miles later and a wonderful bike ride I made it back home. First I noticed the stability difference. I could easily come out of the saddle and pedal without any noodle feelings. It also handled the weight well enough to ride free handed which would never happen on the Giant. Now I admit I'm also running 1.9 tires with 40ish psi in them. I didn't try to balance the weight just threw what I thought was close to 60 pounds on it. The gearing and the feel just made it fun to ride with no effort. Came across two hills that I was glad I had the 24x36 combo to climb while drinking my starbucks. The rest was just checking out parks and such close to my house. A bike ride fully loaded that felt as comfortable as riding with nothing.. go figure.. I'm amazed. I could go on but I won't... Edelux vs Supernova E3 Triple.. SON28 Hubs ... Arkel Panniers... handle bars... the front basket I've fallen in love with.. heal clearance.. stability ... sheesh Oh ya.. my cable stretched and I just flipped it to friction.. what a joy.. I'll adjust later maybe then go back to indexed. So different than my AHH yet the same.. comfortable... don't know how I can get tired of this. The pictures are at the bottom of this set.. with panniers.. (hint hint) http://www.flickr.com/photos/tksleeper/sets/72157625693997926/ Kelly PS. No spandex for 800 miles.. No clipped pedals.. no heart rate monitors or speedometers .. just riding... huge for me fyi. Any having best time riding I've had in a long time.
