I can't speak for others but mainly because of what I have available and 
found interesting. I like that the Paul Melvin has 20 teeth of chain wrap, 
so I bought it and don't regret it. When I originally was planning on this 
build I had 3 speeds in mind, but just now got around to installing the 
Mountain Tamer so I have a low gear for trails. 

I hope you land an ASC though and would love to see your build!
