[RBW] For Sale: Riv Nitto Platrack and Sackville Platsack

2022-05-15 Thread WETH

For Sale: a Nitto Platrack and matching Sackville Platsack combination.

I thank Bill Lindsey for the description below taken from his for sale post
last year. He is a far better writer than I, and I thank him for his
permission to quote his text:

"The Platrack is a Nitto tubular steel platform specifically designed to
bolt to the top of your Marks Rack (M1) or your Mini Front Rack (32F). The
Platrack converts your smaller rack into a much larger platform. The
Platrack has its own pair of auxiliary struts, stiffening and strengthening
the assembly.

The Sackville Platsack is a bag designed specifically to attach to the
Platrack.”

I am including Platrack struts that measure 40 cm long.

$180 shipped for both the Platrack and the bag. (Local sale within 30
minutes of 20895 zip code for $160) I prefer to sell them together as they
belong together. If you are desperate to buy one piece and not the other,
let me know. If I can find a buyer for each half then I might elect to
split them up ($100 shipped for the Rack and struts. $120 shipped for the
Bag.)

Please see photos for condition of items here; there is a small hole in the
Platsack above the zipper:

[RBW] For Sale: Riv Nitto Platrack and Sackville Platsack

2021-06-29 Thread Bill Lindsay
I'm selling a Nitto Platrack and matching Sackville Platsack combination.
Newcomers won't know what this thing is, so I'll explain briefly

The Platrack is a Nitto tubular steel platform specifically designed to
bolt to the top of your Marks Rack (M1) or your Mini Front Rack (32F). The
Platrack converts your smaller rack into a much larger platform. The
Platrack has its own pair of auxiliary struts, stiffening and strengthening
the assembly.

The Sackville Platsack is a bag designed specifically to attach to the
Platrack.

I bought this Platrack/Platsack assembly from Riv in ~2013. It has lived
on my Hillborne, my Bombadil, and most recently on my wife's Yves Gomez.
It's been used on several S24Os but almost exclusively was an 'event'
setup. The vast majority of its life has been spent on the shelf.

So, if you already have a Mark's Rack -OR- a Mini Front Rack and want a way
to massively expand its platform temporarily (or forever), this may be your
thing. If you are an old timer and have kicked yourself for missing out on
this Rivendell exclusive, here's your chance again.

The Platrack struts have been cut to the right length for an Yves Gomez,
which is a 650B wheel with medium tires. If your bike runs 700c wheels,
you will almost certainly need to buy longer struts. Some people have set
up their Platrack to reach the mid-fork braze-ons, and if that is your
strategy, these struts will be plenty long.

$90 plus shipping for the Rack. $110 plus shipping for the Bag. $175 plus
shipping for both the rack and the bag. I want to sell them together, but
if you are dying to buy one part and not the other, let me know. If I can
find a taker for each half then I will elect to split them up.
