Re: [RBW] Frank Jones brake choices
Yep yep, that was Will's recommendation for my Chev, too. He has a Paul Racer on the front of his, but he doesn't consider them any stronger than sidepulls. The unspoken impression I got was he thinks all the cable hanger gymnastics aren't worth the bother. -- You received this message because you are subscribed to the Google Groups "RBW Owners Bunch" group. Re: [RBW] Frank Jones brake choices
Thanks all! I also spoke without Will @ RBW today and he strongly recommended the 559s as well. I think I’ll go that route. I’ll probably end up with the 559s. I prefer the side pull cable route in the rear over using a seat lug bolt mounted cable hanger. But as rbw are out of stock at the moment I may start out with the mafac raid I’ve got in my parts stash. If you are trying to max out the tire size with fenders, center pull probly gives better room than dual pivot side pulls. -- You received this message because you are subscribed to the Google Groups "RBW Owners Bunch" group. Re: [RBW] Frank Jones brake choices
Depends on whether you intend to run fenders. Centerpull brakes have better fender clearance than R559 sidepulls. [RBW] Frank Jones brake choices
One of the interesting differences between Quickbeam/Simpleone and Frank Jones is that brake options are different (canti vs side/center pull). I'm curious: if you were to build up a Frank Jones would you go with Tektro R559 sidepull, a centerpull (eg. Dia Compe or Paul), or something else? Why?
