I have a Brentwood and don't suffer from the heat on warm days. It's not as
cool as muy Lazer but not uncomfortable.

I was due for a new one and my helmet guy said the value Giro model is the
Foray. I picked one up in white with high viz accents. It'll need a little
modification but it's pretty good.

That Brentwood looks interesting and the price is right. It might be too warm
for the current weather here, but I'm going to give it a whirl. Thanks
everybody!

Can't beat the price. I just got one and somehow wound up paying only $14.79
for it!

I will pay attention to this thread - 63 & 64cm works best for me too. I
want something with a peak if l can.

My best fit is a Giro l think...but it is in Vancouver so l cannot check
now.

Will start trying them on when l get back to BC early in October.

2017-09-29 Thread Jay Connolly
Nutcase makes a reasonably priced, non-swoopy helmet. I had v1 with an ironic
Evel Knievel paint job. My only complaint was that it had fewer vents than a
swoopy helmet and was a little hot in the summer. Great winter helmet, though.

Re: [RBW] Helmets for fatheads

2017-09-29 Thread Tim Gavin
I wear a 7 3/4 hat (~63 cm head size), so I feel your pain.

For my "swoopy" (aka well ventilated for summer) helmet, I use a Giro
Savant XL.

For my non-swoopy helmet (less-ventilated, better for cold weather), I use
a Bern Brentwood XXXL. I tried the XXL size and had to return it for the
largest, but now it fits great. I could still use a size larger for
layering when riding in below zero weather.

Whelp, my trusty old Specialized Propero is approaching its eighth year on my
rather prominent noggin, and I fear it's time for a new one. Large, 57-63cm,
needs to fit on kind of a wide head. I'm willing to pay good money for
something nice, but hopefully less Star Wars swoopy than this one. Any
recommendations?
